Yeah that’s a strange one. I got the upgrade notification first thing in the morning and did it, then the 4K was removed from the store for whatever reason later that day but since I grabbed it I have it.I lurked your wall and tried to get Minority Report in 4K -- only to discover that it’s just HD in the store.
Have you watched it in 4K? I bought it and watched it and in my opinion it did not look 4K. Maybe that’s why it was removed.Yeah that’s a strange one. Haven’t watched yet, we had just watched in HD a month before the update landed.Have you watched it in 4K? I bought it and watched it and in my opinion it did not look 4K. Maybe that’s why it was removed.
I agree with this. I watched this when it first hit the store in 4K and thought that the transfer was rough in certain parts, where it didn’t look 4K or even HD quality. Still a great movie, but was expecting a better transfer. I haven’t watched the Blu-ray disc in awhile, so can’t say for sure if this version is the same or lesser quality than the disc.Have you watched it in 4K? I remember it always having a nice grain layer to it. I just scanned it while the theater was on and it looks REALLY grainy to me, which is how I remember it looking when we watched pre-4K release.I agree with this. This is from Mid-May when I first got my setup and had the same thoughts:Hello. I'm a new owner of Kaleidescape. I notice some of the movies that have Dolby Atmos on 4k Disc, only have 5.1 Sound on K-scape.....An example is Spiderman (Toby McGuire), first movie has 5.1 sound, the disc has Dolby Atmos sound for years. The remaining 2 have Atmos. Another that is very strange, the Jurassic Park movies...5 of the 6 have 5.1...Dominion is in Atmos. These have been on disc for years with Atmos (DTS-X would be acceptable as I think some of those were in DTS-X. Any idea as to why K-scape can't get the best possible audio when the discs have it?
I did sent K-scape an email asking about this, but so far no reply.....
205 titles were on that list. I'm not declaring victory or anything but they have upgraded a handful of the listed titles in the last couple months. I'm sure they're working to acquire what they can get.I provided the current list to a higher-level leader @ KScape and he thanked me and said he forwarded my message to the content team and their senior management team "to provide as much visibility as possible."
That said he did mention that providing the immersive track "is often not a priority for the studios" so of course there are other factors at play.
Kinda pushy I know but it seems like immersive audio has been a bit of an afterthought for such an organization usually laser focused on the quality of the content provided.
I'm just happy to be heard and that they're going to try to acquire what they can in the future. Very cool!![]()
Although K is most often compared to discs due to quality of audio/video, the K Store is a digital movie store. The contents are best compared to other digital stores like the Apple TV App (iTunes) and Fandango-at-Home (Vudu). If you check Apple, Fallen Kingdom and Dominion are the only Jurassic movies with Atmos tracks. In that case, it would appear that K's version of Fallen Kingdom is the only one lacking.Hello. @MikeKobb Out of curiosity, does the scope of K's Dolby Vision efforts include 4K titles that were previously lacking HDR? Or, if K previously opted not to include HDR on a title, does that keep it off the list for an upgrade? As an aside, I do recognize that there's not a way to sort that view to show the versions that have had Dolby Vision added. There is however, a way to see the movies that you own that are not downloaded to your system in Dolby Vision.
I believe it's primarily based on looking at the intersection of:@MikeKobb Out of curiosity, does the scope of K's Dolby Vision efforts include 4K titles that were previously lacking HDR? Or, if K previously opted not to include HDR on a title, does that keep it off the list for an upgrade?
Unless something has changed, I don't think this thread is tracking missing immersive audio codec upgradesAnother "Hole"in the Kscape movies....Skyscraper-Dwayne Johnson- 5.1 in K-Scape.
Atmos on other streaming services.
I didn't read all 25 pages. I thought it did. I won't post any audio "holes". Thanks for letting me know.Unless something has changed, I don't think this thread is tracking missing immersive audio codec upgrades
