Any idea what the hold up is on the new Studio Ghibli title, The Boy and the Heron? Been forever since it released in theaters and it even got a 4K disc release a month ago. Been looking forward to seeing that one.
K hasn’t been getting Shout! 4K releases for years. They’re about 8-10 flicks behind at this point. I’d say that maybe their contract doesn’t allow for 4K, but they got the first two.

Considering all of the prior Ghibli films are HD only, and they’re all incompatible with Strato V, hopefully there are some conversations going on with Shout! that’ll produce more than just compatible HD files.

Anyone know why Three Amigos is not available on the store? Anyone have a plethora of reasons?

We watched it last winter on the veranda, I only had an SD DVD rip in PLEX and it wasn’t available anywhere else at the time. Looks like it’s starting to show up on a few services again.

Hello. I'm a new owner of Kaleidescape. I notice some of the movies that have Dolby Atmos on 4k Disc, only have 5.1 Sound on K-scape..... Another that is very strange, the Jurassic Park movies...5 of the 6 have 5.1...Dominion is in Atmos. These have been on disc for years with Atmos (DTS-X would be acceptable as I think some of those were in DTS-X. Any idea as to why K-scape can't get the best possible audio when the discs have it? L
If you check Apple, Fallen Kingdom and Dominion are the only Jurassic movies with Atmos tracks. In that case, it would appear that K's version of Fallen Kingdom is the only one lacking.
When you do see a release falling short of your expectations, send an email to: movies@kaleidescape.com
On the plus side, it appears that of all requests, K is most responsive to adding Atmos tracks. :)
And just a handful of weeks later, K has updated Fallen Kingdom with Atmos:

They did it y'all. They added Ferrari from Neon to the store. We now have 3 Neon films in the store. Maybe the 4th Neon film be Anatomy of a fall?

There is a “restored” 4K version of the BBC drama series Pride and Prejudice which would be great to have on the store (my wife would certainly appreciate it!!)
On this note, while there's a good amount of BBC Studio content, there's many gaps (at least in what's available in the USA). My favorite show, Inside No. 9, only seems streams on BritBox and with stereo sound. (I may misremember reading that it was available in 5.1 in the UK.) If Kaleidescape had this show, it would be so much nicer than the glitchy ways of streaming it in the US.

Would love to see both Seven Samurai and The Intouchables on K-Scape.

Seven Samuri recently received a 4K upgrade in June 2024 as well I believe.

I recently watched The Intouchables this past month for the first time (French language with subtitles version) and it was incredible.

To date, Criterion has only ever distributed HD films digitally. However, that has to change at some point, right? This would be the perfect title to start with. That doesn't change the fact that K doesn't have a contract yet, but who knows what's going on behind the scenes.

Having said all that, both Criterion (US) and BFI (UK) have great 4K UHD Blu-ray discs hitting in the next 60 days, which are the safest bets for seeing this masterpiece at home in our theaters. They both appear to be readily available for pre-order.

Our whole family LOVED the Intouchables! Yes, would buy this in a second from the K store.

It must have switched licensing hands at some point, because I've had The Intouchables on my system for several years. And yes, it is a fantastic movie!

Fwiw, I have pre-ordered the BFI version as it features HDR (HDR10/ DV). I believe the criterion version is SDR only.

I, too am fortunate to have purchased The Intouchables when it was available. Can't say enough about the screen "presence" of Omar Sy. Whether it's Lupin (season 1 absolutely terrific; 2 a bit less so), or even The Killer 2024 (he was better than the movie).

But, I only have in SD. Wondering whether it was available in HD and I purchased the wrong version.

Would like to see them add The Handmaiden, which I believe is now an Amazon Studios movie. I'm a big fan of Park Chan Wok films and this is in 4K on Amazon. Hoping to see Oldboy and a few others pop up soon now that they have Neon as well. Oldboy is available in 4K on iTunes from them. Would love to see the rest of the Vengeance films come up as well.

What is going on with the Neon additions? After we got the initial 3 drops, there has been zero additions from Neon's more recent releases or their back catalog.

Totally agree. Instant buy for me of the Vengeance trilogy.

Was going through some movie library management and realized we are still missing "The Way of the Dragon" as the 5th and last Bruce Lee film to be in the K movie store. Please! :)

Here's my list of missing 4K Catalog Titles/Updates from 2024. This list is certainly incomplete, as it mostly focuses on digital releases that arrived alongside discs. Purely digital 4K updates on digital stores are nearly impossible to track, but I've added some where I found them:

We have 25 missing titles from 2024 (counting Elm Street once), up from the 18 missing from 2023. Not a trend I like. I know I'm beating a dead horse, and I don't represent everyone, but I'd take any/all of the above titles before the next direct-to-video dreck with a 9% RT score.

Generally we've got the usual suspects of Sony, Paramount, and Lionsgate. It appears that there's again an active relationship between K and Shout! so hopefully we see more updates there. Warner has joined the "Missing" party for 2024 with Elm Street, which is particularly unfortunate as studio leaks have shown the entire series getting 4K updates as a "big release" for this coming October.

I also didn't include full back catalogs for newly added 2024 studios, but at some point we need to see titles like Oldboy.

Thanks for compiling this list. I would buy almost all these titles if we were to get them in 4K on K (I’m guessing there are a lot of other film collectors on K that would do the same). Hopefully someone from K is monitoring this and works to get these for us soon.

I think Dark Crystal and Labyrinth were available until Shout! licensed the rights, I do have Labyrinth 4k on K that I bought before it was removed.
