Store "Hole" Feedback

This is odd, I already own this in 4k but now it's showing this as a different version, the only difference I see is this one has Atmos and the one I own doesn't, and it wants $21.67 for me to upgrade to the Atmos version.

Same movie, but your version was when it was still under the Universal Pictures umbrella and it has been missing from the K store for new purchases for a while. Now the Atmos version is up and I believe the movie rights have reverted to Disney now that the Universal Hulk license has expired. No idea if they can hook you up with the upgrade with the multi-studio thing making this one more complicated than most.

Lucky you ... I don't even have an option to upgrade. The Store wants to charge me full price 😭

That makes sense but I'd still think our rights should move over to Disney now

@MikeKobb do you have any insight on this?

It is back
Picked it up.

Here's a list of 2023 4K UHD Disc releases that never made their way to K:
(All studios on K and available digitally elsewhere.)

A Bronx Tale
Halloween H20
The Man Who Killed Hitler and Then The Bigfoot
Monster Squad
Mortal Kombat Legends: Cage Match
Muppets Take Manhattan
Rocky II, Rocky III, Rocky IV
Rosemary's Baby
Scream 3
Sweeney Todd
Sympathy for the Devil
The Last Dragon
The Mist (& Director's Cut)
The Naked Gun
The Wicker Man

Hopefully we'll see the Rocky movies in 4K when the remainder release in the near future, and I'll personally be requesting another half dozen.

Seeing The Mist & Director's Cut (HD) in the K Store was instrumental in my purchase of a K. I was excited when I saw the 4K announcement and am particularly disappointed that we haven't seen updates to these two titles. Maybe I'm the only one that bought them?

Also for 2023, the Director's Cut of "The Exorcist."

There are also a number of 4K titles released in Europe (but not in North America) by studios that do have some titles at the K store (like Canal.) For example, the 4K releases of Richard Lester's "Three Musketeers" and "Four Musketeers."

There are a couple of movies from 20th century (The Creator and A Haunting in Venice) where you can only buy the movie on K but you can rent those movies on the major streaming services. Does anyone know if this has always been the case with K or if it is recent? And it doesn't appear to be studio related bc there are other 20th century films that I have on my wishlist that are available to rent.

There's a movie from 1998 called Happiness (Happiness (1998) - IMDb) that I'd love to see on the Kscape store. Despite having an all-star cast (Philip Seymour Hoffman, Laya Flynn Boyle, a few former SNL members like Jon Lovitz and Molly Shannon) it never got a release on Blu-ray let alone 4K. I suspect it's because it's a *very* dark comedy with untouchable themes like pedophilia, but I remember it being really good. Unfortunately, I only saw it once almost 25 years ago so I don't remember much about it other than what I wrote here. Any chance this could be added to the store?
Apparently it's coming to 4K via the Criterion Collection! I'd prefer it on Kscape for the sake of convenience, but I'm just glad it's getting a re-release. I actually bought a used DVD of it off of eBay about a year ago.

Would be nice to get some of his other films on K like Welcome to the Dollhouse. Storytelling is the only one on K.

Welcome to the Dollhouse (Sony) and Storytelling (Warner) should be available to K and are the easiest Todd Solondz movies to access (Storytelling should be available in HD). I'd definitely submit a request to K if you're interested.

Much of Solondz's work is out of circulation/distribution or handled exclusively by boutique labels (very similar to Larry Clark of Kids fame).

Oh lord, I saw "Welcome to the Dollhouse" in theaters and it's fantastic. Would love to see it again.

"Happiness" was very acclaimed when it was released; I actually never saw it, but read the screenplay. It seems to have been "forgotten" but glad Criterion is digging it out of the vaults.

Also I would love to see "The Opposite of Sex." It only ever got a DVD release. Has a great cast (Martin Donovan, Lisa Kudrow, Christina Ricci, Lyle Lovett, Johnny Galecki). It's extremely funny and unpredictably profound. Would looooove it in at least HD.

I loved Opposite of Sex when it came out. Great cast. I have the DVD (but just don’t watch DVDs any more). Would be nice to see that in HD on K. It’s on AppleTV from Sony, but I think it’s still only DVD quality.

Back again now from Shout Factory but only in HD so far
Crossing my fingers that this could be a sign.

I've noticed that Shout Factory is distributing more 4K movies to other digital stores. Previously, they only had two available, Transformers: The Movie and Old Henry, both of which are available on K.

However, they later added the four Laika films (none of which have hit K in 4K yet), then The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth (haven't returned to K yet), and now also have Brotherhood of the Wolf (would love to see a 4K upgrade on K).

It looks like Point Break is still HD everywhere else, but I'll be keeping an eye on it for potential updates on other stores. I'd love to see K update any Shout! stuff they can.
