Finally watched it last night, and it was great. Extremely gory, but knew that going in, so was pretty prepared.just finished watching Sisu. Great film if you don’t mind some gore.
Ty! Any idea why it’s $15 more on Kscape? Is it the kind of movie worth the extra, assuming AV is better than elsewhere? I’m not tied to having all my movies on Kscape just prefer it when it makes senseMy wife and I watched Companion last night:
<I removed the link because I don’t think you should read the synopsis.>
We both REALLY enjoyed it, and I’ll be keeping an eye on this writer/director. With that said:
DO NOT WATCH THE TRAILER.
This is a wonderfully surprising film if you go in as blind as possible. Do you like well constructed thrillers? That’s all you need to know.
I don’t know why, but the studio (Warner) is absolutely trying to destroy this film with its ads, synopsis, genre assignment, poster, etc. I was told to go in blind and listened. I watched the trailer afterwards and was stunned by how irresponsible it is to the film and audience. Ugh!
It's $15 more on K because Warner is at the forefront of experimenting with digital pricing. I expect all studios to get there eventually, as we're basically paying the same for a digital title we were 20 years ago. In a world where high-profile 4K UHD Blu-rays are releasing at $65 retail, the land of $15-$25 digital purchases doesn't seem to have many days left.Ty! Any idea why it’s $15 more on Kscape? Still cheaper than buying a Laserdisc back in the day even without adjusting for inflation. It's $15 more on K because Warner is at the forefront of experimenting with digital pricing. Regarding this title, it's certainly one that I'm happy to own.
Sorry, I'm far too young to have memories of buying the Aliens: Special Collector's Edition 4-Laserdisc set for $99.99 to get my first look at the (at the time) legendary Special Edition of the film. And I didn't buy any of those Disney Masterpiece sets either. Or Star Wars. Nope, not me.Still cheaper than buying a Laserdisc back in the day even without adjusting for inflation.

I notice the price usually drops when the disc is released, and this movie’s disc release date is April 1st. You can preorder the disc for 27.99, so I expect the K price will drop to 29.99.Ty! Just one of those movies we have always gone back to for being just good entertainment.
It's funny but I would have said exactly the same re both movies until last year. I always remembered the Conversation as being a brilliant movie but I watched it last year, or rather I watched half of it. I just found it mind-numbingly boring this time. Even now I can't quite understand how much I appreciated it first time around and yet second (albeit many many years later) I found it awful. Maybe I was in a funny mood. Enemy of State always works and we have watched that oodles of times. It is an entertaining version of the Conversation like character/movie and has pave/energy that Conversation lacked unfortunately. I suspect it is me that is at fault here but can't bring myself to watch it again. Time is too precious.Watched Enemy of the State last night:
It looked ridiculously good for HD/SDR. I believe this is one of those Disney/Fox movies that have new transfers/encodes (over the ancient MPEG-2 Blu-Ray) and it shows. Highly recommended if you're a fan of the movie or thrillers.![]()
Enemy of the State
A lawyer becomes the NSA's prime target when evidence of a political murder comes into his possession. Thriller, Action, Crime. Directed by Tony Scott. Starring Will Smith, Gene Hackman, Jon Voight, and Lisa Bonet. Purchase and download today in HD.www.kaleidescape.com
Enemy of the State reminds me of the excellent Coppola film, The Conversation, also starring the late and great Gene Hackman. But, the Conversation was made available in 4K HDR DV back in December. I haven't had a chance to watch it yet in 4K but I'm certainly looking forward to see how it stands up in HDR or DV.
