The Perfect Host

Absolutely, one of the finest films I have ever seen. Dark black comedy/thriller...endlessly surprising from one scene to the next. Absolutely in my top 20 list.

I like it as well. I don't remember it getting much advertisement when it first released. I probably ran into this title by accident one day and really enjoyed it.

Finally got a chance to watch Daylight (4k Bluray).
Was hoping they would include an atmos track. I have the German turbine edition Blu-ray which includes dual atmos and Auro-3D tracks.

Where did you get the disc?

For those wondering, Kino had some last minute “unknown” (licensing?) issues with two of their releases: Daylight and Dante’s Peak. Dante’s Peak was delayed repeatedly and now has a tentative date in June. However, a shipment of Daylight got out and some lucky customers got their discs. There are no issues with the discs themselves, and there are a lot more sitting in a warehouse somewhere waiting for release, and there are assurances that said release will happen.

Regardless, of course people are freaking out and trying to sell discs on eBay for $100-$500. Meanwhile, it’s a Universal title so the 4K master is going to be tied to Kino for a while. (Paramount seems to be the only studio digitally releasing 4K’s that Kino publishes.)

It was so atypical. Not conventional, plenty of unexpected twists. We need this film in the Kscape store :)

Nosferatu

I had high hopes for this atmospheric movie but there were two problems. First, the acting was pretty bad. Worse still, both audio tracks I tried (Dolby TrueHD Atmos and DTS-HD Master 5.1) had the same problem; the volume required to hear dialogue made the loud bits too loud so I had to keep changing the volume on the remote to compensate. Very annoying. I would have tried another audio format but the acting was so bad that I didn't bother. I've viewed several other movies with Dolby TrueHD Atmos and have not had this problem. The Dolby Vision did look good but that was about the only positive. You win some, you lose some.:(

I have run into this problem on a few titles. I go to the cinema each week (112 times last year) and never had this problem there. They are different mixes for sure.
