KEAOS (Software) UPDATES

I’ve received the update and will try and do some testing with my MadVR MK2 over the next 48hrs.

Did some this weekend and didn’t notice any issues on DV but I am using primarily on a Sony 77A95L as my main display.

I run sources through an AV Pro Edge MX-42X switch to separate audio and video (primarily because I had a Denon AVR and it wasn’t playing nice with MadVR at one point for audio lag issues).

My display and MadVR profiles were calibrated by my friend D-Nice so that also may be a factor why no DV issues but I’m not running/testing LLDV option with a projector.

I’ve got settings for DV set to automatic default and haven’t noticed/seen any flicker (which I would notice because I’m primarily a videophile vs. audiophile), but will test specific scenes mentioned here as I have all the John Wick movies.

Are people testing and seeing issues on physical disc for these scenes (sorry if this has been mentioned) in compare to K-Scape as an A:B comparison?

Jealous! Wish I could have him calibrate mine but I’m not in the 48 so not possible unless a lot of his clients relocate here.

I have seen dropouts in Empire Strikes Back when Leia is yelling at Luke that it’s a trap and during the opening scene of Revenge of the Sith. Never seen that happen on the discs. Still on the old fw though.

Rollout is extremely slow. Please be sure post back to the group if it has resolved audio/video drop outs

I've also had a dropout or 2 on HDR10 playback of A Star is Born. I am interested if new firmware helps all versions of. movies.

Yeah, I understand the need for staggered rollouts for firmware but this one seems excessively slow.
In my experience the rollouts take 3-4 weeks. We're approaching 2.5 weeks right now. I don't have a V so I'm assuming I'll get it by Christmas.

I received mine yesterday. Didn't have much time to mess with it. As one who owns a Strato V without excess storage, I do now appreciate the download status on the main page. In addition, I like being able to watch the movie trailers in the movie store. I thought that was odd when I first got it that you couldn't watch the trailer to a movie you may potentially buy. Problem (albeit a minor one) solved. I don't watch Dolby Vision downloads on my projector for reasons I have expressed previously so any improvement there will be lost on me unless Kscape brings Dolby Visions picture quality on par with HDR 10.

The rollout is taking longer than usual as we had to halt it after discovering an obscure bug that could cause Strato C movie players to fail to upgrade if they're connected to a sub-standard network. Once we had a fix, we commenced a rollout of a new kOS version which reset the schedule by a few days.

This, by the way, is a good example of one of the main reasons why we do staged rollout in the first place.

I appreciate the attention given to the rollouts instead of just turning it loose and crossing your fingers.

I apologize if it's earlier in this thread, but was there supposed to be the movie poster cover art resolution improvement in this update or a follow up? After this update my Strato V movie posters look identical and I'm running it through a Lumagen. Let it be said, I've never known different so if it never improves it won't really matter to me. I'm bringing it up as it was a listed improvement, so I kept my eye out for it.

Great, I was hoping for an improvement there as well. It looks like hot garbage on my big screen.

We don't typically push software updates on weekends. Next phase of the rollout goes out tomorrow (Monday).
