Strato V black screen and audio cutout issues

Since i lost track a bit: is all this (stuttering, audio dropouts) only happening when using DV or also with HDR10 content (or even SDR)?

I really don’t get it. All this stuff works fine with other devices. I’ve only ever seen issues outside of the V with Apple just not carrying HDR on some apps (Peacock and Fox Sports) but that’s not an interop issue, it’s just on the app at all, for which I use a Fire Stick 4k.

The other one is with the Fire Stick not passing HDR10 through Denon and LG G2 on The Boys, but passing it to tv directly. But with the V it doesn’t matter if it’s through receiver or directly to tv, Dolby Vision has the same issue with not passing the signal well and seemingly not wvwn really being in HDR
People have had this type of issue with different devices in the past. Usually on Denon or Marantz. I've seen several examples besides the below

Mine is a Lyngdorf MP60 with 2.0 HDMI and I use the included HDMI cable into my Lumagen so don’t think it’s just those and the ones I’ve had on DV are repeatable skips which would suggest it’s a content/player issue. It seems to be once per movie at random points, I’ve switched to the HDR10 version for Dune Part 2 so when I get around to watching that I will see what happens but by then my player may have updated.

I have a Denon and upgraded from a prior Denon so I’m speaking from my experience on devices with their AVRs. Dolby Vision issue is also present when directly connected to the tv so it’s not the Denon.

I had a Denon x4400 for several years and now a Marantz Cinema 30 and never once had any of these type of issues with devices...BD Players, Zidoos, AppleTVs, Fire Sticks, Rokus, etc. Only some occasional stuttering on the Zidoo playing back NAS file but that was due to network ..not HDMI.

My issue is with DV movies. Every few minutes, at reproducible time stamps, the video will stutter or slowdown and the audio will drop out or go silent. If I let the movie continue to play, sometimes it will auto resolve after a few seconds. However, most of the time, I have to either pause or skip forward/backward in order for the movie to resume playing proper. In specific, reproducible scenes, sometimes it will be impossible to stop the issue. I will have to forward out of a particular frame or scene in order for the movie playback to resume normality again. This can happen every few minutes in certain movies, to the point I have to clutch the remote and constantly pause/unpause or skip a frame. I have tested this and EVERY DV movie that I have (we’re talking >20 movies at this point) has this issue. The best way I can describe it is as if you’re watching a video on a slow internet connection with poor latency and the video is constantly trying to buffer or catch up. But, I’m running a 10G LAN at home and the V is hooked up to a gigabit switch and I have tested the throughput speeds coming out of the port and confirmed it’s getting the full GB. I even tried a 2.5G port and same issue (even though the V is only gigabit). My Terra server is hooked up to a 10G switch and confirmed it’s pulling 2.5G (since that’s the max the Terra Ethernet port supports).

And to the other poster, I’m not using Marantz/Denon. I have an Anthem AVM 90.

And as I’ve mentioned previously, this is a reproducible issue bypassing the receiver as I’ve tried the V directly into my LG G1 with the exact same issue. THIS IS NOT DUE TO THE RECEIVER! Maybe it’s incompatibility with the G1, but it’s not that old of a TV (and supports 4K DV @ 120K).

Something is either screwed up with the V player or the DV encoding of the films. I have tried every combination possible to troubleshoot and I have single-handedly isolated it to the V player (or, it could be the DV movies themselves).

Has to the be player since I only download HDR10 version of movies and experience the issue.

Smells like a network issue. To rule that out, try putting the V in standalone mode, download a movie and play it.

No, it doesn't smell like a network issue...

I've had the issue since day 1, even before the V was hooked up to a Terra server (I setup the V first, played with it, and then hooked up the server). And, as I detailed in my post, I tested the port (and cable). I tried going direct without the switch. I tried going to all ports of the switch. My testing has been extensive and it has 100% pinpointed the V itself as the source of the issue (or, the actual encoded movie files as I can't test those since they aren't accessible from K-scape).

REPEAT: THIS 100% AN ISSUE WITH THE V PLAYER! Whether it's a compatibility issue with LG OLEDs, the player itself, or a DV movie encoding issue, that I can't isolate. I only own LG OLEDs in my entire house; I don't have a projector to test with (but, regardless, the player of this price point has to work with the most widely owned OLED brand). And, I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE EXPERIENCING THE ISSUE!!!

I’m pretty confident it has something to do with the way the V is reading the EDID from certain devices. I have my V connected to my system though an HDFury Vertex 2, and when I had it pass through the EDID from my system (a Samsung S95C TV with a Denon x6800h receiver), I would get these audio stuttering/video dropout issues on certain DV movies (I’m using the HDFury to add DV support to my Samsung TV). However, if I read the EDID via the HDFury, and then uploaded that EDID back into the custom slot on the HDFury, and had it send the EDID to the V directly instead of passing though what the TV/receiver were reporting (plus added DV, via its Automix functionality), the dropouts went away despite the fact that the EDID would have been the same.

Its not network. I only have a V so always standalone and experience these issues.
I assume you have tried direct-connect to your PJ? I switched from Belkin 4k 18Gbps HDMI cable to Blue Jeans 3m 48Gbps and experienced decreased sync time and fewer issues. I'm going through a Lumagen and the founder/owner swears by the 3m length to tame the signal reflection. Blue Jeans carries solid, quality cables.... nothing snake oil. I'm still on the older version of kOS and am experiencing 1 glitch--mostly 2- to 3-second pauses, per movie on average.

Yes I did try V straight to the PJ. Still had the occasional black screen when coming out of pause....obviously could not test audio drop outs.

I use this cable from Marantz to PJ....Infinate Cables AOC 2.1 22ft

When I tested V straight to PJ i used the cables that came with the V.

Watched Horizon tonight. Multiple audio drop outs. Still waiting on my update but I’m cautiously optimistic. Using an Anthem AVM70. Previously used a Marantz 8805. Makes no difference what brand of processor.

Still waiting on update for my V but two things I have done which seem to have "fixed" the issues I was having...been about 2 weeks since ive seen any black screen or audio glitches.

1) Set HDMI speed to 13.5 Gbps
2) Let projector completely come to life (~45sec) before powering on AVR and Strato V. (this actually seems to have made the biggest difference which leads me to think there is something going on with HDMI handshake and timing),

Has anyone who used to have Strato V Audio dropouts on Denon/Marantz had improvement (no Audio dropouts) with the kOS 10.20 update?

Yes, I’ve been experiencing audio drops on my Yamaha since the kOS 10.20 update yesterday. I never had this issue with the previous 10.19 version. It’s quite annoying, indeed.

Is there any way to roll back to version 10.19? I can live without the on-screen trailers for now, but these frequent audio drops are extremely frustrating.
