Strato V black screen and audio cutout issues

I just got a Strato V and encountered something somewhat similar with a Denon x6700h with a 7.1.4. When using the supplied cable the screen would cut out very briefly every now and then display a Dolby Vision pop-up in the upper right. I switched to a new 6 ft monoprice 8k 2.1 and it doesn't cut out but still has the Dolby Vision pop-up in the upper right corner about every minute or two.
I ran the Strato directly to my Hisense L9H projector and have the eARC back to AVR. This got rid of the pop-up but the audio seems a bit lower.

The Dolby Vision pop-up is an issue with Plex also after some googling. I switched my Kaleidescape HDMI back to through the AVR and set my projector audio output to PCM and it fixed the pop-up issue. Not sure why since the audio is going from the Kaleidescape to the AVR but it works.
I spoke to Kaleidescape and this issue should be fixed with the next update in a few weeks.

About 2 weeks ago I made a change to my Harmony activity for Kaleidescape....I added a delay between powering on the JVC and then powering on the AVR and Strato V since the JVC takes a good while to actually be up and running. In the two weeks I have not had any blackout or audio cutout issue. No clue if I just gotten lucky or if this change did something. My theory was that since the JVC takes a good while to be "ready" that perhaps waiting before powering on devices that do HDMI handshake made sense.

Maybe the EDID coming from the JVC was not arriving in time, or it was incomplete and adding a delay has fixed that? Not certain, but it seems like a possibility.

I watched Memory in 4K HDR today. There was an audio drop out lasting about 2 seconds during the closing credits. This was repeatable.

I’ve had to reboot the V a few times now using the power button. Gets hung with the ‘loading data’ message.
I’ve also experienced an occasional black screen drop out, no audio issues.
Terra prime server.
Anyone else have problems with the V freezing? Seems to be getting worse and the only fix is a reboot with the power button or a restart from the ‘my-Kaleidescape’ setting screen. Does not respond to the app or remote control.

New system software released today (10.20.0-25546) that includes this release note:
  • Bug Fixes: To improve overall playback performance, bug fixes have been implemented to alleviate issues stemming from HDMI interoperability, audio drops, and trick play (play, pause, fast forward, rewind).
Hopefully that resolves some or all of what you're experiencing.
More info here.

Just got the update this AM to my Strato V. Unfortunately, the same issue still persists…video stuttering and dropped audio at the same time stamps as previous.

I watched Oppenheimer for the first time over the weekend and it is extremely frustrating to continually have to pause and unpause or forward through parts of the movie that randomly stutter with audio drop outs.

Again, this is only happening with movies in Dolby Vision.

I really can’t believe I paid an ungodly sum of money for a subpar experience vs my 2019 Shield.

Going to contact my dealer to see if there’s any way I can return my system. I can’t wait another 3 months for the promise of having such a major issue not be resolved. DV movies at this point are an extreme hassle to watch and that’s the entire point of having the V…

I’ve not had the update yet but had my first repeatable audio cutout on Ghostbusters Frozen Empire, between 1.43:10 and 1.43.17 as the ghosts disappearing and the girl is looking up it drops every time exact time stamp is probably something like 1.43.14 but couldn’t pause it to check and that’s on the DV download but being converted by the V to HDR10.

Very frustrated with this issue. It's so embarrassing and wish I had just stayed with discs.
Are you saying you never had a DVD problem? Yes it is frustrating but overall satisfaction with K is higher than other mediums I’ve owned, for the price we expect perfection, unfortunately that is not a reality.

Are you gaslighting me over a 5k movie player lol?

Well I’m feeling you pain today, with company over trying to watch Superman II, finally gave up, stuttering picture and no/intermittent audio.

Today, we were watching Moana on my Strato V. Halfway through the movie, the TV screen suddenly went green for a second and then completely black. The player then restarted itself.

At first, I thought a new update might have been applied, but that wasn’t the case—I’m still on the older version.

Is anyone else experiencing sudden restarts on their Strato V? This is the first time I’ve encountered this issue. Hopefully, a new firmware update will resolve it soon.

Does everyone with the issue have a Denon or Marantz? Many with these brand receivers have issues with several types of devices.

I switched from the Kaleidescape supplied HDMI cable to a monoprice cable that was a bit longer and mostly fixed the issue. Also set the audio output to PCM on my projector and that helped with the Dolby Vision pop-up.

I had this the other week. But has only happened once. I still haven’t had the update so hopefully will be sorted for good then.

Thanks for sharing, good to know it was a one-time thing. Mine also happened just once today, and I’ve been using it for the past three weeks without facing any other major issues so far.

I really don’t get it. All this stuff works fine with other devices. I’ve only ever seen issues outside of the V with Apple just not carrying HDR on some apps (Peacock and Fox Sports) but that’s not an interop issue, it’s just on the app at all, for which I use a Fire Stick 4k.

The other one is with the Fire Stick not passing HDR10 through Denon and LG G2 on The Boys, but passing it to tv directly. But with the V it doesn’t matter if it’s through receiver or directly to tv, Dolby Vision has the same issue with not passing the signal well and seemingly not wvwn really being in HDR
