If I download movies in 4K DV, will those downloads also play on a "normal" Strato C / Strato S players? Or do I need to download both DV and 4K HDR versions?
It is run by a group of enthusiastic Kaleidescape owners and dealers purely as a service to this community.

Is it not just replacing your HDR movie? There’s no way someone can afford to double down on terras? Both.
Nope both versions would have to be downloadedIs it not just replacing your HDR movie? There’s no way someone can afford to double down on terras?
It appears that if your plan is to go Dolby Vision, even for part of your system, then the best long term solution is to replace all of your Stratos/Strato Cs with Strato Vs. Obviously not an option if you’ve got Premiere equipment, but that’s how things look right now.Is it not just replacing your HDR movie? There’s no way someone can afford to double down on terras?
This is crazy , if I use Apple tv the movie plays in DV or HDR , if I rip the movie it regersters and plays in DV or 4K HDR on my projector. It appears that if your plan is to go Dolby Vision, even for part of your system, then the best long term solution is to replace all of your Stratos/Strato Cs with Strato Vs. A Strato C can move for roughly $2k, a Strato V is $4k, ~$2K upgrade. At less than 200 double downloads of DV + HDR titles you’re filling a $10k Compact Terra. Math says Strato C goes bye-bye.
When you play on AppleTV, the provider is storing two versions of the film on their server and streaming the file your device/system calls for. Same with Kaleidescape, except you own the server and the quality is a lot higher. This is crazy , if I use Apple tv the movie plays in DV or HDR , if I rip the movie it regersters and plays in DV or 4K HDR on my projector.

Is that (slight?) improvement in responsiveness worth these big servers keeping their hard disks running the whole time? Seems a big increase in cost of power for what might be a slight increase in performance on occasion. Is that something that a user can choose to enable/disable if their priority is more about idle power usage?
- Terra and Terra Prime servers will now keep hard disks active to improve overall system responsiveness and performance, enabling movie guide information to be always up to date
Just a friendly reminder to those who may not have seen the "Sneak Preview" thread -- the cover art improvements are actually going to be partly in this new kOS release and partly in the December headend software release.Cover Art Scaling Improvements: The method of displaying movie cover art on Strato V has changed to improve overall crispness and clarity on the onscreen display.
The new Strato V driver is still in the queue for certification by Control4 so it's not in their online database yet. If you have access to Composer Pro and can program your system yourself, you can grab the updated Control4 drivers (for all of our players) from our support website at:I can also confirm that my C4 control of the V wasn't working via my Halo. Must need that new driver or some configuration update/tweak.
Correct. Our software updates are released to batches of players in stages, both to manage infrastructure load and also to ensure that if there are any issues that weren't caught in our QA process, we have a chance to find out about them when the audience is still limited and stop the roll-out. This is also why we start with employee and dealer systems.i take it from this there is no way to manually trigger an OS update?
