Strato V black screen and audio cutout issues

I’ve finally got around to remembering to switch the HDMI’s on my Lumagen, now rather than splitting off the audio to my Lyngdorf processor and the Lumagen direct to the projector, I’ve just got the one output from the Lumagen to the Lyngdorf and then the Lyngdorf to the projector.

I watched Challengers a couple of days ago and had one audio dropout near the end which reminded me I needed to try swapping. Today I watched Speak No Evil after changing and no dropouts, will need to try some more movies to be sure but I’m hoping this has now fixed the issue.

After reading the Lumagen and Kaleidescape threads in regards to the Strato C that also had audio dropout problems, I can only surmise the audio only output on the 18Ghz boards which is limited to a 720p signal is causing some kind of intermittent syncing issue with certain hardware combinations since it’s fine on my Zidoo, Firestick and PC but not on the Strato V.

Next thing to adjust is the green screen/flicker when the output changes as that is super annoying in a blacked out room!

Never had a green screen with a C. Probaly a Lumagen-thing?
That part is definitely a HDMI thing not related to the Strato as it is also doing it on the Firestick and presumably Zidoo and PC too but not checked those yet. It’s only during content type switches where it’s flickering green as it locks onto the signal, could be the Lumagen or could be the Lyngdorf or could be the HDMI.

I’ll play around some more, I’ve got a backup HDMI cable through the wall for easy testing so I can plug that into the HDMI Out 2 on the Lyngdorf and cover both cable and port.

To be honest it’s less an issue than the audio drops during movies, it just doesn’t look great when the screen is flashing green every time it locks onto a new signal!

Is it a green geometric pattern or full green screen? If it’s a pattern a clean boot load of the Lumagen firmware should clear it. Sometimes that needs to be done after several updates. Takes about 5 minutes.

No, it’s not the diamond pattern thing, it’s literally full screen flashing green with the one exception when the movie ended on the Strato V it was solid green and not flashing.

I know green screen flashing is usually a HDCP thing so when I get a chance to troubleshoot properly I will. I’ll probably do it once the solar/battery are installed as I’ll power everything down and unplug the HDMI’s when they need it off next month.

Just a follow up from my first post here. I’ve had no dropouts since adding the madvr core and nz500 in the setup. Must have watched 10 movies and demos in the short time I’ve had everything installed and it’s been perfect. I do wish there was a way to force the kscape menus to hdr to avoid the handshake but I can live with it for now :)

Well looks as though the dropouts haven’t been resolved, watching Minecraft in 4K DV I had one brief blip early on and then just had another now as they open a cave door to a stash of diamonds about 1hr 2min 35s in. Not repeatable after rewinding so something is still wrong plus now I also have the flashing green screen issue so may just go back to the previous HDMI setup to remove that issue!

Not really sure where to go from here with it though, let’s see if the new update changes anything! I’ll do a few more films to see how it behaves first.

Make that 3 dropouts by the end! May have to try my backup HDMI cable at this point and see if it fairs better or try different HDMI ports on the Lyngdorf to rule that out.

I was really hoping they would be resolved. Watched Superman tonight, 2 drop outs, not repeatable. This is frustrating after a year of owning the V.

Which version of the movie? DV, HDR10, etc..

Really don’t think that matters. Still people reporting drop out issues with HDR10 too.

Kscape to AVM70. AVM70 to 83 OLEd. Using the supplied HDMI cable. Pretty straight forward

I watched Paddington 1 & 2 yesterday and had no drops, literally can’t work out what’s the issue at this point. Neither of those are Atmos which could explain it but all 3 of the recent ones were DV.

I can’t imagine it’s the HDMI cable or the Strato V being HDMI 2.1 as I’ve been gaming on it recently with an RTX3080 which is HDMI 2.1 at 4K/60 with Dolby Atmos so maximum bandwidth for HDMI 2.0 which is what my Lyngdorf/Lumagen are and it’s more than any movie I’ve been playing. My Zidoo also has no issues with 4K/60 or lower movies so it seems hard to believe the problem is anywhere other than the Strato V.

It also doesn’t seem to be a bandwidth issue because most of the time it’s dropping when nothing is really happening.

Since the firmware update in May I have watched lots of films with zero issues. However, I received the August firmware update yesterday and the very first film I watched gave me a 3 second non repeatable audio drop out. It seems, therefore, that the new update might be causing problems.

Similar experience here. Got update last night and demoed 4 movies on a Strato S and V. Both set-ups exhibit audio drops. I haven’t had any for a long, long time suddenly I’m getting them regularly. These were all on SDR versions of the following movies

The Amazing Spider-Man
The Amazing Spider-Man 2
Ambulance
Avatar

Clearly something has changed with this update.

Watched the new Mission Impossible last night and had an audio drop out. Running the new software also.
I know that it’s been discussed but has anyone had luck using a different certified HDMI cable in replacement of the THX one provided?
