Movie Updates

Well you are correct. Superman now sounds incredible. I’m sure the adjustments were with the SPL and the fact that the volume was low prior. However damn it sounds so dynamic and the LFE slams. Well done Kscape. Gotta love the ability to offer audio improvements.
Really looking forward to F1 getting the same update.

I saw Superman and F1 in theaters. Superman sounded great, but F1 was pretty blah, even in theaters at a premium venue. So not sure if that is an encode problem, likely just a limitation of the mix. Hope I'm wrong though.

We usually see movies at an AMC Dolby Theater, but missed F1 during its premium release window. We saw F1 in one of their “Dine-in Theaters” then saw Superman in their Dolby Theater. Had the same experience as you but really thought it was just the lower end venue.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975) in HD from twentieth Century updated to Dolby TrueHD Atmos from DTS-HD Master 5.1

The Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning audio and video update is available. I'm not referring to Final Reckoning, which was already updated. I'm updating it as I write this, but it's finally here!

I just got this update. I wish K would give more details about the audio updates. I wonder if this audio update is related to the dial norm issue Mike Kobb mentioned a couple of weeks ago.

I got tired of waiting for the Dead Reckoning update, so I watched it using the disc on Sunday evening. I was finally able to watch Final Reckoning for the first time a couple of days ago because I wanted to watch Dead Reckoning prior to watching the last one.

What version of Dead Reckoning is showing updates avail, I cant see anything for HDR or SDR

Mine is 4K HDR. If you bought it recently, it may not have needed an update....just a guess on my end.

I just played the "Finding IIsa" scene on K-scape. I hear the sand swirling, horses riding, shots fired, etc. To me the audio is significantly improved. Subwoofer was very active as well. I think you'll hear the difference from the previous file.

Oh wow. For me I like to play the car chase scene and the ending scene on the train for the LFE. I'll take a listen tonight, specifically the scene you mentioned. Did the SPL seem higher?

I just finished listening to the scene you mentioned and the car chase scene and the movie sounds like a completely different film in a good way. The SPL is up and the LFE is more impactful. I can hear dialogue much better. The swirling wind and the gunfire in the 'Finding Lisa' chapter made it feel like I was in the middle of gunfight and the dust storm. I'm floored how much better the film sounds. It's great....good job K.

I purchased Dead Reckoning in August. I don’t see any update available?
I purchased mine last year. I don't know how they manage updates, but yours may already be up to date. Again, I have no idea how they do this. All I know is K-Scape notified me today of an update. Maybe reach out to k-Scape.

I am new to Kaleidescape having just purchased a Strato V.

Just for my info....
1) Is there a day that new releases hit the store? Is it Tuesdays? (It was Tues this week)
2) Similar question for Dolby Vision titles being added. Does it just happen one day a week? or can new DV titles drop on any day? Weekends?

Curious was is typical around Store additions.

First, welcome to K and the forum!

The K Store is a digital movie store so it functions very much like Apple’s TV App (iTunes) or Fandango at Home (Vudu). Most weekly releases are Tuesday with Friday being a secondary day that’s growing. For those other digital stores, “Tuesday” means 9:00pm PT on Monday. For K, its 12:20-12;30am PT on Tuesday. However, K doesn’t always get movies on release date and they may show up Tuesday morning, the following weekend, or months later.

Regarding Dolby Vision, for new releases see above. Updates of already released titles can drop at any time.
