I am probably on your block list, but just in case, I really do appreciate your work and am glad to hear you are contacting KScape directly. While I do understand the public pressure approach, personally, I think the most important line of communication is between you and the company directly.

Also, though I know there are fanboys out there, I can say for myself with complete sincerity, my problems with the other thread had nothing to do with your critiques of the players. I love my K but not so much that I won't criticize it myself. In fact, I sent an email to KScape yesterday about what I think could be an issue with the HDMI card as it is not playing nicely with some other devices and I think the problem may be the K.

Those of us that have been more critical of the other thread are not all fanboys who just want to defend KScape. It was more about separating out the more unneeded inflammatory comments from the real data and problems. I know you believe people are justified to feel inflamed, which I can understand, but to me at least, it simply doesn't help anyone. In fact, I think it is more likely your data gets ignored because of the anti-KScape tone in the thread (which is also why I am so glad you communicate directly to them).

Again, thank you for your work and efforts. It really has improved KScape.

Not bad for a kid from the trailer park.

4K C looks like a great improvement for most movies, certain scenes look better than others. I’m thrilled and generally overjoyed.

You could start a new thread specific to 4KC analysis and provide a link to the old thread in your first post so that the previous information is easily accessible. Putting all of your work in one mega thread actually obscures all the different aspects that you’ve analyzed. It gets muddled over time and the individual issues don’t shine. Something to think about.

He contacted me and clarified that he was referring to himself. i can't find a rule here about insulting yourself. post restored.

Having been reading the original thread and this (fast becoming) mega response, it is fascinating to see how polarising the conversation is. Folks who claim to want the best but hope that the original thread goes away and a set of Kaleidescape haters looking for an excuse to reinforce their viewpoint seem to be the only type of posters. For me, I could never see a difference between the new encoding formats and the original and I always took this to be 80% marketing and 20% improvement. I find it disappointing that the only hard evidence we have suggests that the improvements are far less than 20% (and maybe non-existent) and I think that there should be an opportunity in this forum to put pressure on K to fix the problem rather than pretend it doesn't exist. I don't think that should be controversial to either side of the argument and comments that it looks great to me anyway or K are useless don't add anything to the conversation or add to the available data set.

FWIW, if someone referred to me as "a kid from a trailer park", I would be flattered.

Where I grew up, we relied on bus shelters to stay dry when it rained, and received a single piece of coal as a birthday present.

Yes, of course these 2 things are related and I´m not only looking at the latest findings, but right from the beginning.

If you´re being open, step back a bit and look from a neutral stand at how the thread developed over the first couple of weeks and months, it´s on both "sides" how it went on.

it should probably have been closed just because of the thread length. at some point it should be archived, and start a part 2. having a 300pg thread is not good imo

i also want to add, that some of the encodes rmarci showed of the cinematic files, were so bad (thinking supergirl 444), that you don't even need to pixel peep. it felt like someone rubbed Vaseline on my screen. it was not even about film grain, it was just a straight up significant loss of detail. it looked terrible. the 420, was significantly better, (not even exaggerating). the 420 vs disc was trading blows, but the 444 was plainly unacceptably.

Fyi based on the moderation responses we're able to insult other members as long as it isn't explicit which members we are targeting. Seems many folks figured this out already.

I have dozens on ignore list, I add all the "minions with nefarious intentions" (it feels bad to say that phrase, especially without naming someone, but maybe seeing someone they disagree with using it will cause the mods to rethink allowing it).

Usually those on the ignore list surface again from someone piling on the attacks on me and quoting them, but also the "show ignored content" button is so prominent and hard to resist clicking. I much prefer the model where who you ignore/block can't see your posts and you can't see theirs.
