This is a fantastic upgrade over the previous 1080 examples. It appears that it was shot recently. I would put this up against any contemporary release. Amazing uptick in details and even the ugly cgi was not so jarring. The inclusion of atmos is most welcome, as it really opens the soundstage when needed. There is some nice bass extension as well.

Overall an enjoyable experience on C_DV. Glad i decided to revisit this unforgettable comedy/ satire…AcK Ack..lol.

I agree, what pleasant surprise. Great video and audio upgrade. If your a fan of this Tim Burton movie, highly recommend the upgrade👍

It looked fantastic from a brief preview on DV on a Strato E. This is going to be my first viewing. And it happens to me one of my wife's favorites. I'm so grateful it was already on sale for $9.99. This is one of the many great benefits of being a Kaleidescape user.

$9.99 is a killer deal, couldn’t believe my eyes when the updated version appeared initially on the K store.

Not sure how I had never seen this one. Not a great film, but fun 80's horror. Was surprised how nice the K transfer was. I know there's a 4K disc version, but the HD transfer looked very clean. The sound was also great - and a nice collaborative John Carpenter score. On sale for $4.99

Oldboy was definitely not the movie I expected going in. I liked but didn’t love it as most seemed to. I don’t feel like the twist was earned as it just seemed to come out of nowhere. Glad I watched it but probably won’t revisit.
Oldboy is OK. But the first of the trilogy is much better in my opinion. Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance.

Checked out Tuner yesterday. Pretty entertaining right up until the end and then it just kinda fell apart for me. Would still recommend though, especially if you are Leo Woodall fan. Audio and video were great and since this didn't get a 4K physical release is an easy recommend over the BD (which I also have).
We enjoyed the Tuner . It was pretty good watch !!

Bought this since it was on sale and had heard good things about it. I enjoyed it greatly. Great cast and fascinating story. Looked and sounded great on K (some day when my new Strato K arrives I will revisit in Cinematic).

Had fun watching this. Non stop, high octane action thriller which never relents. Looked and sounded amazing in C’matic. Henry Cavill and Jake GyllenHaal make a great team and complement each other rather well. Hope they are featured more often in future Guy Ritchie productions. The supporting crew was quite solid as well. Highly recommended.

Great price now too, purchased and downloading …

Funny, just turned it on myself. Love me some Guy Ritchie.

Just watched it last night. I won't comment on it since I want to avoid spoilers.

But, I will say: If you want to watch a fabulous Guy Ritchie movie: this is the one: The Covenant (2023):

After wrapping up a marathon of House of the Dragon Seasons 1-3 on K (good stuff!), I finally got around to Backrooms.

Short summary? Disappointment. Having recently watched Exit 8 and Obsession (both great!), I was really looking forward to this one. However, I really struggled to get into it and thought the beginning dragged. Then, during the final third I kept nodding off, which isn't a good sign for a horror flick let alone one that's barely over 1.5 hours. I think I largely followed everything but am considering watching the last half again to see if there's something I missing. For the whole "liminal horror" thing I found Exit 8 to be a far superior experience. Oh well.

I don't think I was quite as disappointed as you, but I also watched Exit 8 and Obsession before this one, and it was a bit of a letdown compared to the expectations it was given.

I didn’t mind Backrooms. Watched it as soon as it went live on K. Might pick up the upcoming a24 disc for the exclusive extras. Exit 8 has to be one of the top 3 movies of the year for me. I even ended up ordering the exclusive Japanese collector’s edition Blu-ray which features a fantastic 7.1 mix. That mix is exclusive on that set.

Quick update but first some clarification: I didn't dislike the movie, I simply went in expecting more and was left disappointed. Perhaps if it was not released so near Exit 8, or perhaps if I saw this film first, I'd have been more satisfied. As it is, I find Exit 8 to be far more effective. Where that film accomplished its character setup in a phone call while exiting a Subway train, Backrooms spent a good chunk of time setting up its two characters. Anyway, I don't want to spend too much time getting into spoiler territory. Exit 8 is great, Backrooms is fine.

Anyway, I did watch some YouTube videos on some of the Backrooms lore and it's interesting stuff. In fact, had I been exposed to more of this beforehand I might have enjoyed the film more. But, if some of the best parts of your film aren't between the credits but on YouTube, then that's on the filmmakers, not me. "Oh, if you read the books it would fill in the gaps." Well, fill 'em Spielberg! :)

Maybe in time I'll check out the disc with additional Extras and grow my appreciation of the movie. In the meantime, if you want to see 2026's best "liminal" horror film, do yourself a favor and watch Exit 8.

That's a fun list of movies you've watched lately. I saw The Backrooms in a basically sold out showing when it first came out. That Christmas tree part was crazy in a theater packed like that. Everyone was basically holding their breath and finally someone was like Oh Hell NO! and we all laughed.

I do want to watch it again, but I also enjoyed those others a bit more. I'll even throw Hokum in that list. Although, it is bit different than the others.

The film follows a desperate paper industry expert who decides to kill off his competition to be assured of the job he seeks to maintain his way of life.

This film is brilliant...and beautifully filmed. Highly recommended!

Watched this fun, twisted, Argentinian film tonight. A bit of a Tarantino vibe to the collection of stories. On sale for $4.99 at the moment.

We watched Motor City starring the actor who plays Reacher Alan Ritchson. This movie is very violent with lots of action . But what makes it different is there is almost no dialog in this movie . Lots of music and special effect sounds but only a few lines of Dialog. If you are looking for something different try this movie out .

I’m looking forward to this, but wish there was HDR. This appears to be quite reminiscent of The Silent Night, which also featured negligible dialogue.
