This isn’t an audio/video standout and it’s HD, but the MOVIE itself was fantastic.

If you enjoyed Backrooms and liminal space psychological thrillers, this is a gem

Yeah really enjoyed watching this. One of the movies of the year imho. After watching this on K, I decided to order the Blu-ray from Japan, as the Japanese deluxe edition supports a badass 7.1 track. All other releases (including the US) comes with a toned down 5.1.

Miller's Crossing was exhausting, like Uncut Gems. Felt like I was just being yelled at for 2 hours.

I agree about "Uncut Gems". I would never like to see that again. I've never seen "Miller's Crossing" but after your post, not interested.

Watched Hush again yesterday. I use it as a demo for GTG'ers.
It is my #1 go to for an infrasonics demo.
I have it on disc (full color)but I noticed K has it for $9.99 so I picked it up... only the bw version tho...

I put it on my Wishlist and quickly removed it after learning the 4K disc has Atmos audio, whereas the K version is only DTS HD Master.

Rewatched Serenity, the last time it was on a much smaller Quad L-ite sub-sat system with one sub. This time out on the 4 subs and the difference in bass, wow!

The opening re-entry scene had my sofa vibrating as if I was on the ship, absolutely delicious. Will have to remember it for the demo real as it was a pleasant surprise.

I also got caught up on the Predator series ready for Badlands, I’d not seen Predators before which I think was a lot better than I expected and Prey was more of the same. You do realise how bad 80’s audio was compared to know when you watch them in order. Just very loud and shrill and not a lot of detail, we’ve certainly come a long way!

You don’t really notice the progress until you go back, you forgot that only having stereo was a thing or 4:3 TV’s. If we haven’t all killed each other I wonder where things will be in another 30 years.

Yes it was a nice surprise and just the sustained impact of it as well. A lot of times with some films I question if there is something wrong with my setup because I expect more than they give but I guess it makes the gems all the sweeter when they crop up.

To each his own. I thought Uncut Gems was an outstanding performance. Critics agreed with me but popcorn meter 52%.

Really enjoyed Michael. Does not deserve the critics scorn it received at all. This is the perfect Part 1 of a character study that tries to give some insight into what made Michael Jackson who he is. Jaafar Jackson brilliantly channels his uncle, and Colman Domingo is a dominant presence whenever he’s onscreen. It’s a film that has generated a lot of conversation amongst the family.

Oldboy was definitely not the movie I expected going in. I liked but didn’t love it as most seemed to. I don’t feel like the twist was earned as it just seemed to come out of nowhere. Glad I watched it but probably won’t revisit.

Watched Masters of the Universe on Prime. Brought back fond memories of the original He-Man animated series. Enjoyed the ride. The audio is amazing (streaming notwithstanding), can’t wait for it be released on Kscape.

it reminded me a little of the old Flash Gordon movie... then i realized afterwards that the soundtrack was done by Brian May, so that definitely contributed to the similarities.

Reminds me of a recent watch I did on Netflix called "Apex". The audio on it was fantastic for a streaming source. Not sure if this one will ever be available on disc or on K.

Yeah I watched Apex, but there’s a shark themed title on Netflix called Thrash (not sure if it’s still available) where the atmos is absolutely bonkers. Bonafide b grade flick but the audio was insane.

Watched the Equalizer trilogy for the first time, I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed watched a load of arseholes getting pummelled to death, a real satisfaction to it!

Also finally got around to starting the Star Wars movies in UHD that I’ve had for ages. Only watched the prequel trilogy so far and picture quality was not the best. I don’t normally think there is a big difference between 4K and 1080p but these noticeably looked softer and the HDR use in the first two was poor. I’m guessing it’s the fact they prints are limited resolution as there were clear stair-stepping/aliasing issue on number of things you’d see in a low-res upscale.

Never the less it was an interesting watch, I enjoyed them a lot more than the last time I watched the blurays. I always hated AoTC because of the CGI but I must have got so used to everything being filled with CGI that I really didn’t think it was the issue now. Even had to google if they’d updated the CGI I was so surprised.

Next up original trilogy, wont be watching the Daisy Ridley trilogy as I watched those relatively recently with my 3D copies and same for Rogue One and Solo, will slot those all in on the next run!
