US Digital Releases for July & August 2026

One of my all time favorites, Random Harvest (1941) will be released on blu-ray August 4, and it's been available on Apple TV. I am hoping Kaleidescape will get it, so I don't have to buy the disc.

King Richard and the Crusaders (1954) in HD with DTS-HD Master Stereo from Warner Bros

One Ranger (2023) in HD with DTS-HD Master 5.1 from Lionsgate

Tea and Sympathy (1956) in HD with DTS-HD Master Mono from Warner Bros

Have you seen this movie? Is it good? It looks exactly like Her, Ex Machina, Companion, and Megan, is it the same old thing or actually a fresh take?
It was envisioned as a M3GAN spinoff with a theatrical release and then dumped directly to digital… so, um, gonna guess same old thing? Would love to hear otherwise.

So, Universal couldn't help themselves and did another catalog dump at the end of July. I'll be adding a section to the bottom of the first post to capture them all so that we don't overload the weekly releases. (BTW, good on Universal for continuing to do this... more long-lost titles in circulation!)

Oh, that follows. Ugh.

It would be nice if Universal could get around to a 4K HDR remaster of Children of Men. That's maybe the only title I'm really waiting on from them.

SOULM8TE (2026) in 4K SDR and Dolby Atmos

SOULM8TE
SOULM8TE is available on the K Store in 4K SDR. This is a 4K Dolby Vision movie that is available in that quality in every digital store except K. Based on my tracking, this is the first Universal title missing HDR in years, going back to 2023's DOOM. In fact, DOOM is the only "subpar" 4K release I have on my spreadsheet from Universal as this behavior has mostly been seen with Paramount, Warner, and Sony (exempting AMC).

It's very unfortunate that subpar releases from K are continuing past the release of the Strato K, a device that signals K wants to stand their flag on "Better than Disc." Squeezing every bit of quality out of your assets starts with getting the best assets. Period.

P.S. I sincerely hope that DV/HDR encodes are in the pipeline and this comment ages poorly.

I have not seen it. I just know about it because I’ve enjoyed the M3GAN movies. I heard this has a fair bit of old school T&A, so it’s got that going for it.

Stop the presses! Solaris 4K and Stalker 4K are releasing on disc in Germany August 6. I just preordered both on Amazon.de:

Solaris:
Stalker:
EDIT:

Stop the presses again! Early arrivals show that these discs are AI upscales, from a boutique label known for such things. I'm attempting to cancel my order, and suggest others read this thread and decide what works for you.

Patience (Season 2) (2026) in SD from PBS
For those wondering about the SD nature of these PBS releases, K has previously stated that their access to PBS assets is limited. Specifically, you'll notice PBS shows on K match their physical (DVDs, Blu-rays) and not digital offerings (generally HD). I hadn't looked at DVD release calendars when preparing the list and missed these two planned July releases. I'll be updating the list soon and will keep this in mind in the future.

Well, well, well, look who's whipped out a missing 4K catalog upgrade from 2024???
And because I love data and keep too many lists, here's the other "missing 4K upgrades" from Paramount for 2024:
The Dead Zone
Friday the 13th Part 2
High Noon
King Kong (1976)
Kingpin
Silver Bullet
South Park: Bigger, Longer, Uncut
Tales From the Darkside: The Movie
Top Secret

We know how K hates catalog horror, so I think we can write off most of these. But, maybe some hope for High Noon? (Or Top Secret? Airplane 1 & 2 and Naked Gun got upgraded.) Do I get excited every time we get a long overdue catalog update and hope it leads to more? Yes. Am I disappointed every time? Yes. Will I cease my excitement? No, no I shall not.
