I saw they updated the listing with a release date not too long after I posted. Was hoping to see formats updated with more options, but that might be a studio choice. It’s showing as 4K & Atmos on Fandango with no mention of HDR or DV.

For Lawrence of Arabia, I’m happy to report that in comparing the new Cinematic HDR against the stellar 4K UHD DV, the Cinematic beat the disc. The image was crisper with the grain so naturally textured. The HDR really adds to the bright desert landscapes and many night scenes; the SDR version available previously was just missing that extra polish. Even without Dolby Vision (which I would still welcome), the Cinematic version is the best way to watch this amazing film.

A personal favorite of mine as well. I'd certainly temper expectations on any improvements for Willow. This was one of Disney's lazier upscales and I honestly had to do a lot of A/B testing to see much difference. Slight improvements in color due to HDR with a barely noticeable increase in details on some scenes.

Is your Criterion disk HD or 4K? I'm not sure you get a disk to disk upgrade discount from a third party 4K to a Kscape 4K but I could be wrong about this..
4k is not officially a thing, so all discs count as either DVDs or BDs (regardless of how many layers.)
Yes It is, I think you're right. It's both Criterion and 4K, so two reasons K can decline to offer D2D. I'll wait for the sale, since I have the movie in 4K already, and haven't even watched it yet. It's creepy.

I also have EWS in 4K on disk. It's grainy (see the first scene at Victor Ziegler's party) but I think that's because Kubrick was known for pushing the film speed to the max because he liked the grainy look.
