Sorry about my vagueness there. It was Atmos SDR when I watched it. The disc is apprently HDR, which may be worth the color improvement for me. But I need to work up the nerve to see it a second time. It had a level of tension I didn’t expect since they threw out the rule book.Gotcha Edgar elluded in his post about HDR and Atmos being added later so I assumed it wasn’t available at the time he purchased/viewed it
I totally agree with you. I saw it in the theater, it’s like a 1.5, that is neither prequel or new contextual information as implied in the marketing. I’m therefore not going to buy the home video version. We watched Quiet place Day one. It is good but we felt like similar to 1 &2 . It is not really showing how/what happened, but just showing creatures attacking similar to 1&2. We expected Prequel to focus on how they get started.
I understand where you guys are coming from; and I can appreciate that perspective. However with that being said, this is a terrific home theater experience. The atmos track is quite underrated, as most seem to be comparing this to the more illustrious predecessors which had reference tracks.I totally agree with you. Hah! I had written and deleted that I saw in in the theater day one, no pun intended! I also agree with you, it’s quite a good movie. I wrote and deleted that too. I was just annoyed about the wasted theatrical slot to expand the story as opposed to another facet of the story. Kind of like Prey or Alien Romulus. At least Prey I could enjoy as is for not wasting a theatrical slot.I understand where you guys are coming from; and I can appreciate that perspective. But this imho is right there with those two and there are certain sequences which I feel even manages to surpasses them. I actually came away liking the movie as well. It also pertinent to add that I missed watching this in the theater, so I snagged this up day one (no pun intended).
Maybe a rental would offer another HT perspective.
And now Austin Powers International Man of Mystery has been announced for 4K UHD Blu-ray. We all thank you for your sacrifice to the gods of "If you watch it, they will upgrade it."Watche the first Austin Powers and it looked better than ever. Detail was as good as it gets for HD and the colors were more vivid than I remember on the Blu.
Hmm, I’m not sure. I grew up with Roger Moore’s Bond, but find him very creepy. His Bond hasn’t aged well. My wife grew up with Pierce Brosnan’s Bond, and my daughter with Daniel Craig’s Bond. All of us prefer Sean Connery’s Bond! There's only one real Bond, and that's Sean Connery!!
Being serious, I think it's an "age" thing. My wife, being 24 years younger, thinks Roger Moore is the best Bond, my neighbor on my left thinks it's Pierce Brosnan (he's 5 years younger than my wife). My neighbor on my right is a former Indy 500 winner (Rahal), I think he's a Connery fan.

I grew up not watching Bond. I can’t remember when I saw my first Bond but ive seen them all. I prefer Connery’s portrayal, but Craig is a very close second and the Craig movies are just more enjoyable to me as a one-off viewing.Hmm, I’m not sure.
