We have improved overall performance and have added system configuration warnings to the browser interface and movie store.
System Configuration Warnings
We have created a set of warnings to indicate when Kaleidescape systems have too many components or are misconfigured such that system performance is impacted. With the kOS 10.17.0 software rollout, these warnings will appear in the browser interface and on movie store so that you will be aware that adding more components to a system may affect its performance, and how. (For systems that already exceed the recommended configurations, warnings will appear when those systems upgrade to version 10.17.0.)
Warnings appear when:
- Adding more than 4 servers to a system
- Adding more players to a system than the configuration is optimized for
Kaleidescape system best practices include having no more than four servers in a system (including Alto and Strato players with storage), optimizing the system configuration for the number of playbacks desired, consolidating to fewer, higher-capacity servers, and upgrading older Terra servers to Terra Prime chassis.
