    Multiple, Simultaneous Streams

when i worked there (5 years ago now) we looked at that and i recall that the issue was related to filling buffers and cuing and then getting the cue back that it indeed has started... one of those things that seems easy in the front, but has more issues than you realize.

    NEWS: Axonix (K Competitor) Closes?

you went to war with canada when you had a robust economy... and we burned your capital to the ground... both times! Of course since we won the last one, we get to call the rematch. The axonix do-over indeed somehow has all the IP, the customer lists, is offering continued service...

    No Internet Access

some people put a wireless router on their boat, then tap into the inevitable wifi at the harbour. once connected, it uploads. the k system stores logs until it can connect.

    Pianomation CDs

i would guess that a good programmer (lots of programming to do this) would be able to parse names and either not play these under normal circumstances, OR, have a pop up that gives a warning or something like that. A bit of work to figure out at the front end, but a nice add on for a...

    I hate Kaleidescape!

To claim that there are tons of problems is a dangerous thing with k. The K system logs all errors down to disc read/write failures. so if you claim that there have been tons of issues and Mike says that they have gone over the logs... then there have been no problems. As well, i know...

Does the Kaleidescape UI look dated?

Josh and i had this exact discussion about 2 years ago. While the overall look and feel of the UI still is standard setting ( i feel) i defintely hear josh on giving it more spit and polish. some more 3D feel, things like that. they have a guy there now doing user experience stuff that used...

    Kaleidescape power usage

getting "green" through insignificant things like solar or new windows are not tree hugger. they are smart. why consume the grid energy if you can get it from the sky for "free" why spew it out your windows if you can hold it in. in an AVS thread about running air filters and such, one of...

    Transcoding request

as soon as you start mucking with the content... the complexity, quality and reliability of the product goes downhill. It looks good on paper, but in a larger scheme, it is hard to make something like that work. an option to skip extra content and the like would be good though.
