NEWS: Strato K Movie Player with 8K capability and new "4K Cinematic" full-chroma & higher bitrate support

I have another cable to try. I’ll see if that makes any difference. Thanks for all your help. Very much appreciated
If possible, try a passive cable (like the one supplied with the Strato).
Another test would be to connect the Strato directly to the projector without anything else in the chain to rule out any incompatibilities across devices).
Good luck!

Will do. Actually using the supplied cable. Play the movies. Dropouts only on the video wall. I’ll try it tomorrow. I need a break from this

Hm, that´s interesting. We have quite some Trinnov-installations out there in the field and I explicitely asked Trinnov this specific question and was told that they are identical. This was not coming from support, but right from the development team.
Are we sure that we are talking about inputs, not outputs as the outputs are indeed different.
Yeah I thought it was a bit weird. Definitely inputs. They also said that the 8k signal won’t play on HDM1 input 1 which I thought was strange since it’s all 2.1.

I have 2 more data points. I plugged the Strato directly into the projector. No dropouts. I plugged it back into the Trinnov. I then sequentially dropped the refresh rate on the OSD menu. Still getting dropouts. It’s clear that the issue is the handshake between the Trinnov and the Strato. I’m getting a new cable to try from my dealer. After that, I’m out of ideas. For the record, this is a hobby for me. I’m getting tired of all this. Scape did reach out to me. We’ll see where that goes. If anywhere. At least the movies look great.

Hi. Maybe this could help. Not familiar with Trinnov but if the unused hdmi output port could be disabled, you may like to try that. I am assuming you need only one hdmi output.

I have experience similar issues with various AVP/AVR and disabling unused/disconnected output ports usually resolve it.

Hope it help
Thanks

Also for the record, I tried all 8 inputs. No difference with any of them
Following @by96's advice, I got the AVPro Edige Distribution Amp to split the HDMI output from my Strato K to my Lumagen and my Trinnov separately. Since then I have not had any audio drop out like before. I did have a few blank screens after stopping a movie under kOS 26.1.0, which required HDMI reset on the Lumagen (Alt - Prev keys). Since kOS 26.1.1 I haven't experienced any blank screens.

That´s interesting. I´d involve both K and Trinnov support with this. They both can look at internal logs and work from there.
I know, these kind of HDMI issues are very frustrating.

Watching Endgame yesterday I noticed 2 sound drops. They only seem to be on 4k files and never on HD files. I have the Strato K going into a Lumagen 5348 and this then into a Storm Audio Mk2. Notice them starting to come back. Anyone else with a Storm noticing this? I only have no more than 2 max 3 2 second loss of sound and then back. Does not happen on Apple TV so it is a K thing or the Lumagen.

I just emailed Trinnov tech support. Hopefully they can help.

David,

I brought this up in a prior message, since I was concerned there was a potential issue switching from a Strato C to the Strato K, due to it only having the one HDMI output. I always ran separates to my Lumagen and Trinnov to make sure I wouldn't have audio sync or handshake issues. I chose to have the AVPro Edge distribution amplifier/splitter for 1in HDMI to 2out HDMI. This eliminated any possible issues with audio delay/lip sync, or handshake problems. I have not had any problems with this set up. Just something you could consider.

I’ve been thinking along those lines. While I’d hate to introduce another element into the chain, that makes sense. How many sources do you have going into the splitter.

Only the Strato K. The AVPro Edge sends out two identical signals to the outputs. This distribution Amplifier does not degrade the picture or sound in any way. It's not going to have an effect and you cannot tell the difference if in the chain or not. My Disc players, as you may know, have 2 HDMI outputs, so there chain is normal. Video to the Lumagen then Projector and Audio to the Trinnov.

Hope this helps.

I'm expecting my Strato K tomorrow. I have never seen a Kscape system and I currently use a Dune player to view MKV files from UHD disks.

I'd be grateful for any recommendations of titles that improve on UHD physical media, whether or not they are the new 'cinematic' version or not.

I agree - adding such a device into the chain can improve stability of the chain as it refreshes and amplifies the signal.

It helps very much. I have no Lumagen so I’d have to figure out the distribution. Or wait for Trinnov to come up with an answer

There´s nothing to control. It just receives the signal at the input and pushes it out at the outputs.
