I do agree they are high end and no doubt have a great engineering team. I’m sure they will find the fix soon.Great question. I expect bugs on new product however my patience is wearing thin. Kscape is a high-end product, hence high expectations when something isn’t right. I have confidence they will improve this.
Yes, work is being done on this right now. (Well, okay, not right now because it's Thanksgiving in Canada today, but you get the idea.) There are several different issues at play here -- some of them are purely in code we control; some are related to interoperation with other components. So, there are multiple fixes that need to be made, some of which involve engagement with other companies. It seems like it’s going on for longer than I thought. Does anyone know are Kscape engineers looking at this?
Awesome thanks for the update Mike, I do understand it’s complicated for sure. Sounds good.Yes, work is being done on this right now. There will be fixes for some but not all of these issues in the next kOS release (10.20) this year. I expect that some of the interoperability issues will come later due to the need to involve others, but we should see meaningful improvement in 10.20.
My chain is about as short/simple as it can get (at least with a projector) and I get the random blackouts rather often. Strato V -> AVR -> Projector. It’s interesting because I have a NAS and Zidoo 1000 Pro which will have random audio drops too but on my previous cheaper system with only an AVR and older Z9S it never had any drops and they aren’t repeatable, it’s just random. As I’ve changed all but the Atmos speakers I have no idea if it’s a specific device or a certain combination.
I’ve not watched enough on the Strato V yet to see if it does it as well but it seems like the more devices you have the more chance there is for something to have a hiccup!
Mine was more simple like that with the addition of an HDFury as my previous Epson didn’t have HDMI 2.0 which I needed to get HDR on streaming. My chain is about as short/simple as it can get (at least with a projector) and I get the random blackouts rather often. Strato V -> AVR -> Projector.
I have two other devices...Apple TV and Zidoo Z30 -> AVR -> JVC both of which never show any blackouts or other issues.
I agree it seems pretty random since even when it does happen I have never been able to reproduce it given the same scene/timestamp.
GIven that its random and never reproducible it has to either be a handshake bug between the V and either the AVR/JVC or faulty/bad cable(s).
I have done my best to rule out cables. For the V->AVR I am using the supplied Pixelgen cable. For the AVR -> JVC I am using a Infinite Cables Active Cable
Even more simple here. Strato V > LG G3. I've had audio cutout issues and more frequently lately than when I first got the V in July. Haven't had as many major dropouts on my HT setup which is Strato V > Marantz SR8015My chain is about as short/simple as it can get (at least with a projector) and I get the random blackouts rather often. Thank you Mike. Look forward to it.They are roughly quarterly, although of course if testing reveals any issues we will delay a release to address.
We expect the next release to be before the end of the year, with numerous improvements for Strato V.
I doubt it, but there is always a possibility.Sorry if this is a silly question - when the new release is issued, will it be necessary to delete and re-download any films already stored on the Strato in order to get the benefit of the update?
Many thanksI doubt it, but there is always a possibility.
kOS updates will not require you to delete and redownload any content in order to benefit from the improvements made to the operating system.Sorry if this is a silly question - when the new release is issued, will it be necessary to delete and re-download any films already stored on the Strato in order to get the benefit of the update?

On the other hand, if our content team re-encodes a movie, then you would have to redownload that movie in order to see/hear the improvements.
