Last movie watched

On another note, we watched Kinds of kindness and felt that we got hit by a Tsunami. Arguably one of the worst/ most disgusting films I have watched in recent times (and I have seen some stinkers).

Funny, I grew up on Connery, and after watching the first 3 films I knew I was destined to strap on a gun and save the world!! I was recruited by "the Company." I was fully active as an Ops Officer (Case Officer) for the first 13 years.....and carried a gun maybe a couple dozen times in those 13 years, it was locked in a safe 90% of the time (probably to keep me from shooting myself!). So much for saving the world!

Now back to the subject of the thread.

I finally watched Kill. Completely unrealistic, but fun to watch and much better than I thought it would be, but it did make me want to run out and donate blood at the Red Cross....

I went to college in NY when I was 15, graduated at 18 and as hoped, was recruited by "the Company." There is a kind of magical quality about Sean Connery. My daughter rolls her eyes at everything that appears to not age well in romantic scenes in older movies, but says she totally gets Sean Connery.

For context, she’s 16yo, and she does see a lot of movies, since I run Dad’s Film Festival every summer. I show her 10-12 classic films over the summer and we chat about them.

And you’ve seen Borderlands!
I would gladly take borderlands (poor man’s guardians of the galaxy) over the nonsense I watched last night. I still have a hangover from last night, then I soon realized it wasn’t the bourbon. Lol

I remember you mentioning your background before, you are literally “cinelife”!

Haha! Can you say more about what was bad about Kinds of Kindness?
Threesomes, foursomes, old man kissing young man, man asking wife to cut her thumb (followed by requests for right leg and liver) and mix it with carrots / broccoli and make it medium rare for a sumptuous dinner….i don’t think anyone would want me to continue with the scintillating illustrations. Lol.

After watching Poor things and now this, I’m absolutely convinced that Emma stone is desperately trying to audition for the Porn industry, flat chest notwithstanding. 🤣

Yeah, as the saying goes, I'm a legend in my own mind! My time on this good earth is running out, but it's been one hell of a ride!!

I thought George Lazenby was pretty good. Too bad he only had one go at it. Mind you, we are only on Bond #7 and watching them in order.

I had seen Skyfall and Spectre a few years back. Definitely find thos movies keeping my interest more. I think the early Bond films are disjointed and just not very organized.

I will say that I thoroughly enjoyed Goldfinger as well.

I know it's 'confidential' and you can't confirm but I do hope that you got to wear the tux and escort beautiful women to dinner where you would chat to a 'target' stroking a cat. I am sure it's just like that in real life.

As mentioned above, I suspect it has a lot to your 'age/era'. For me it all started with Connery and in terms of look it will always be Sean that I picture when I think of James Bond. I did try to watch them all in release order but I found some of the early movies really don't age well at all. It's not the PC side of it, just the production and acting. So I stopped preferring to remember them as the transformational movies that they were at the time. In terms of which are the best movies, I would stick with the Daniel Craig ones. I could never quite get past Roger Moore being 'the Saint' and the style at the time went for action and laughs where the actors are in on the joke. I prefer the played straight albeit unbelievable antics modern day Bond but it's all about what you want from a Bond movie. My nephews love the Moore movies.

LOL!
If that had been my experience, I would have stayed active, instead I lived amongst locals, eating food I didn't recognize as being edible, or 15 yo food from a can. The only women I saw were wearing numbers sitting in a room behind a large window......(and No, I didn't work that math), and unfortunately never ran into any bald men either!

I was pretty horrified by Poor Things. I don’t have issues with adult sexuality, but everything else is just a non-starter for me. I appreciate the heads up.

just finished watching Sisu. Great film if you don’t mind some gore.
Yes that’s a high octane action film. One of the 1st few titles I picked up on K, since the 4k disc (quite bizarrely) only comes with a 5.1 track.

Yeah, in Canada they only had blu ray available with not Atmos. I was thrilled to get this on K as well. I love when you purchase one that has good re watch value.

Nor do I, but there is some modicum of decency which has to be (self) instituted in every facet of life. Like when the aforementioned elderly gent goes on to sleep with his young male employee and his young bride just to emphasize (and exert) his “control freak” behavior. In my brief commentary earlier, I had barely scratched the surface. Lol. Anyways glad to help out.

Fwiw, I didn’t care for Poor things either unlike many others who were essentially trying hard to conform to the popular narrative. I ain’t that guy.

Well that sounds awful. Thanks for elaborating and for taking one for the team!
