Strato V black screen and audio cutout issues

Wanted to add that I have had significant HDMI issues with a Strato C and an AVPro Edge MX88X HDMI matrix. Issues were video dropping and audio dropping. I tried EDIDs, cables, settings, and more. What finally fixed it was adding a simple HDMI splitter into the chain running from the Strato to the matrix. What I have come to surmise is that the HDMI output on the Strato is a bit unstable and anything that used an HDMI matrix, such as my AVPro or ANY AVR, may have issues dealing with the voltage swings. The splitter absorbs these swings and allows for a more stable signal to be sent on.

If anyone here that is having issues wants to try a splitter to see if it helps there issue, I think it worth a shot.

Here is the splitter I used.

Was watching the original Roadhouse tonight on the Strato V and coming out of an intermission break, it got stuck on black screen.

Once I did reverse the image came back on and I had to watch Dalton do his Tai Chi all over again.

This is the first issue I have had with the Strato V since I gotnit right after release.

Repeatable audio drops in Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone at or around the 42.32 mark, just as Dumbledore announes the house rules.

Strato V and DV title. Credit to "pyrobuilder" over on AVS forum for the report (which I have repeated on my own system).

There was up an update available today for The Martian, but it did not fix an audio dropout that occurs at the 16:58 mark of the movie.

Not sure what the update improved specifically, but I'm still getting that dropout each time.

Watched “Twisters” tonight and had a 3 second audio drop out about 7 min into the movie. Played it back and could not replicate.
Strato V to Anthem AVM70 to LG OLED 83C3.
Also the audio for this movie was pretty low in volume. I see this on other threads but wanted to throw that out there. Had to go about 6db higher and dialogue still not great.

I also had the same issues with volume and Twisters.

I have also had a few glitches across several titles (like colors going wonky/pink and brief audio dropouts coming out of pause) but none have been reproducible....which makes debugging impossible as well as reporting essentially pointless because no way to help them diagnose.

Yup these are still happening randomly and are not reproducible. Common denominator being Dolby vision.

No issues with HDR10.

Unfortunately not entirely true... I only download HDR10 versions of movies(since DV versions played by the V do not look as good on my non-DV Projector) and still have had the various random glitches.

Not that I think it will make any difference, but I am going to replace the HDMI cable from AVR to Projector with a "better" one just to rule that out since its the only thing I have not tried.

That’s quite unfortunate hopefully the change of cable helps. In my case I have not reported a single incident with HDR10, except for Furiosa where the audio glitch was captured by K.

I tried the splitter (through the AVR) over the weekend, but unfortunately it didn’t resolve the issues. I kept getting the same funky pink neon information on the screen with intermittent blackouts. Couple of audio drops as well.

I’m not returning the splitter, I quite liked the dinky little bugger. Lol. It’s a neat little contraption. I will probably keep it for another application.

Just got a new software update today - kOS 10.19.0-25343. Curious to see if any of these issues have been fixed. Access to the movie store now on the home screen.

I also received the update. Great to see the store available from the Home Screen! Watched “Twisters” again no audio drop outs this time and the odd pink/purple OSD from my Anthem when adjusting volume is normal black and white now. Can’t base one viewing to say audio drop outs are fixed but it’s a start.

I wish mine would update. No luck so far. I forced a reboot, but it didn't work.

I experienced a couple of brief audio drops while watching The Stangers: Chapter 1 (Dolby Vision). Non reproducible. Didn’t expect this F/W would address these issues, but hopefully the following one should. Apparently there is another F/W in the works to address this. But it is trending in the right direction.

I didnt want to create a new thread for this issue, but I noticed on Mad Max Fury Road, the colors are more muted compared to the disc, whether it be DV or HDR10. I tested it on 2 TV's. My Sony A90J and Samsung S95C. Perhaps there are 2 separate masters. One for disc and one for the K and streaming platforms.

I have seen the black screen pop up about 4 times into Mission Impossible 6 so far about 30 minutes in.

Why doesn't my Denon X6700H recognize a Kaleidescape Dolby Vision title as Dolby Vision? The TV will recognize the DV as being active, but the AVR does not? The titles I was watching is Iron Man UHD. Very strange!

I’ve seen this on my Marantz 8805A before I switched to the AVM70. The only way I got it to display “Dolby Vision” was to switch inputs then back to the K Scape input.

No luck, switched inputs on Denon, and still shows nothing under HDR.
