Strato V black screen and audio cutout issues

I haven't been experiencing any of this with my set up to date whether I have DV or non-DV versions downloaded. Strato V > HTP-1 > Lumagen > JVC RS3000. I also don't see a dimmer image with the DV version versus the HDR 10 version like others have.

The only thing I notice is some content has a bright line of overscan on the top or bottom of the image. Top Gun Maverick has this, for example, but I don't see it on my disc version.

I'll keep watching for it.

In my case Top Gun: Maverick is a good example of two issues:

1) The what seems to be an extra/bright scan line.
2) DV dimmer than HDR10 (on my system...the football/beach scene is noticeably dimmer in the DV -vs- HDR10 or disc version)

I have the first but not the second.

I downloaded the HDR only version to check that after I saw your post. There was no difference. I also compared with the disc. All 3 were the same. Perhaps my set up is sending the HDR only either way?

I also don't use the JVC tone mapping at all because I have a Lumagen. That could be a factor as well. Not sure.

That could be since I do not have any video processor so use the RS1100's frame by frame DTM.

I also think it might have something to do with Filmmaker mode....even though I have it set to off(manual) in the projector it sure does behave like its "on" .

main reason I set it to manual in the first place was because on Auto...some movies came out dimmer.

I see that same overscan line in some selections. Annoying.

Good news on that front. This issue has been fixed for the next kOS release.
Although I still have an occasional audio dropout (ticket opened) I don't think I could ever return my Strato V. Watching Passengers (underrated IMHO), American Graffiti, In the Line of Fire, etc.) with such incredible picture and audio quality has me hooked.

I have faith K will fix any issues.

I have had a couple of black screen issues that seem to happen when backing out of a movie, instead of the cover screen coming back it ends up with a black screen until I power cycle the Strato V.

This is Strato V -> Emotiva XMC-2 -> MadVR Envy -> projector.

Setting 4k HD support on my V to 13.5 Gbps solved my issues with the black screen and audio dropouts. You really dont need anything higher than that for watching 4K movies in HDR or DV.

This is the exact same issue I have.

Strato V -> Marantz Cinema 30 -> JVC RS1100 Projector.

Setting the V's OSD menu rate to 24hz seemed to have eliminated the problem for several days but then it happened twice this weekend. :(

We watched Ant-Man last night in DV on our V in the living room. Strato V direct connected to an LG G2 OLED 83".

At the end of the movie when playback was stopped, the V should have gone back to the menus, but the screen just held black. Full black field. Nothing worked in terms of trying to turn if off/on with the app control. I had to pull power and plug it back in.

A customer of mine reported similar concern with the V -> Marantz Cinema 30 -> JVC RS1100. He commented that it seems to happen when existing 24 Hz content back to 60 Hz menus. No issue if menus are set to 24 Hz as well.

Has anyone else seen this? If so, please share.
I have seen this on mine I am new to K-scape, the Strato V is my first device. I was a bit unsure of the issue but I ordered another THX pixelgen HDMI to connect form my Anthem MRX-1140 receiver arc to my Sony A80K Arc. I was thinking it could be an HDMI lag issue. I also just ordered a Panamax MR4300 and going to ditch my old powerbar. Also wondering if it's safe to connect the ground on the Strato V to the ground on the Panamax. If anyone knows that let me know. I'm lost one what they mean by earth ground.

I have changed back to 24 hz as well. All video anomalies have been resolved, but still experiencing those random split second audio drops on almost every other title, especially DV titles. It may not be a huge deal for some, but it just takes me out of my comfort zone, and ruins my viewing experience. Even if there are a couple of stutters during a presentation, it sticks out like a sore tooth and shouldn’t happen imho. For some reason HDR10 titles are more stable

It would also help to know how many members are using this in standalone mode with an AVR/ AVP in the mix, how many are actually watching DV content.

I had posted a link to a thread on the previous page which I felt was relevant to this discussion, however if you use the forum search function and type “audio dropouts” you will see at least half a dozen threads experiencing similar issues. There are Anthem, Marantz, Trinnov processors, mentioned in those discussions. I really hope the next software update takes care of these issues.

Just to follow up, as I started the thread. My one black crash/force restart remains a single event, isolated instance. We've done a good bit of content since with no issues.

My new projector arrives today, so I'll be moving the K to the theater from the living room to pass through my Anthem AVM 90 to the madVR and NZ900.
I will be eagerly waiting for your feedback. Iirc your current setup is directly to the LG G2 and you are using an optical cable for your 2.2 living room setup. You have not introduced an HDMi cable/processor into the mix, just yet.

This weekend I had the black screen after exiting a movie happen twice with OSD set to 24hz....so its not a guarantee....probably went 1 week+ at 24hz without any black screen until this weekend.

I seem to have been lucky with sound....except for one brief hiccup when coming out of intermission/pause on one movie (Twisters), I have not noticed any audio dropouts.

There were no dropouts on twisters, quiet place day one and Bad boys ride or die. All DV titles.

Given all the threads and various issues, I have lost track which ones Kaleidescape have acknowledged they have been able to produce and which ones they anticipate a fix in next software update. Hopefully we get a status on all these soon.

Ive watched all those....all HDR10 versions and only the one hiccup with Twisters.
I watched the DV download of twister and not a single issue whatsoever. No audio drops and black screens.

You are probably not experiencing audio drops on HDR10 titles; like you mentioned you have only watched a single DV title.

I've had zero video issues as long as my V is connected directly to my 83" LG OLED. But putting the Integra DRX 3.4 in the chain introduces issues. So what I'm trying to do is connect directly to the LG and use eARC from the LG back to the Integra for sound but there seems to be issues with handshaking where I'll get no audio unless i fiddle with the cables (Pixelgen THX), so I'm guessing I'm having an Integra rather than a Strato V problem.

Connecting directly to display is not an option for projector unless I want all my movies to be silent movies. :)
