Strato V black screen and audio cutout issues

I'll try that out as well but I don't see how that would fix the audio issue. I have zero audio cutout when going directly into TV speakers so I know it's not my K being defective.

You will still route it through the receiver so you should receive full audio support. The only change you will make is go under video settings of your receiver and switch to pass through. This will bypass all receiver video processing, as that would be handled by the display.

Never mind, I just noticed that you have already enabled pass through.

Yeah exactly, that's why I don't think it will solve my issue of audio dropping out with the reciever. It may fix the black screen but I'm still getting the audio randomize dropping midway into a movie.

Ok that’s another wrinkle, which needs to be investigated.

Randomly*.. yeah that's more pressing issue for me. I have an older yet still DV capable yamaha reciever that I will try out tonight.

I temporarily hooked the Strato V directly to the projector and could not get the issue to happen.

After I hooked it back into the AVR I set the AVR to bypass video processing and the issue still occured but not as often.

So far the only way I have found to totally eliminate the issue is to set the Strato V OSD Refresh Rate to 24 hz.

Also, I have never had any issue with sound...just with screen going blank when exiting movie playing.

I came across this forum. Not in a bad way, but just by doing my homework before pulling the trigger. I have a Marantz SR6015 11.1 setup using an LG CX OLED TV. After reading about the many issues with black screens, loss of audio and video signals with Marantz and Denon AVRs, I am afraid I won't be able to enjoy this new product because who knows how long it will take to address these issues and release timely fixes. It seems like 10.61.80.122 their testing phase, to test the HDMI signals on these AVRs and LG OLED TVs (CX, C1, C2, C3, and C4) and certain projectors, these products were not a part of the qualification phase. It seems that maybe the Strato V was tested and certified on much higher-end AVR, OLED, and Screen Projector products. If this is true, then Kaleidescape didn't do their homework in full to make this not only more affordable but also more compatible with low-mid budget home theater setups like mine. If Kaleidescape releases a public statement that they have engaged Sound United and shipped them a Strato V for testing and certifying with their Marantz SR and Cinema product line, I will buy the Strato V in a heartbeat. But I feel, that if this takes too long to happen, then the price of the Strato V will go up in price, and then I will not be a satisfied consumer. I hope these issues are resolved quickly. I want a good reason to buy this product and not have to deal with the work around of the issues that seem to be building up.

My Strato V is due next week. I am using an Anthem AVM90 to an LG OLED. I am hoping I do not have any issues.

Anyone out there with a similar setup now in use?

I admit its been a little disappointing with the black screen issue I have been having with the V, Marantz Cinema 30 and JVC Projector but I seem to found a reasonable workaround for now. The movie watching experience in really good so hopefully they get this ironed out soon.

I dont even have mine going through an AVR, but connected directly to my Samsung S95C and then eARC out to my audio system, and the screen still goes black after watching a movie. It loses its HDMI handshake to my TV, and the only way to getting it back is to power off the V, wait a few seconds and power it back on. I think the issue is going from the movie at 24hz back to 60hz which is the main menu. Its not an issue going from a higher refresh rate to a lower, but going from a lower to a higher. I may have to turn on QMS on my tv to see if that works.

I agree it does seem related to frame rate transitions...specifically what the Strato's OCD Menu setting is set to.. At default its 60 for me so when I watch a 24hz movie and exit it messes up. If I set the OCD menu setting to 24 the problem thus far does not occur.

Have you guys tried “minimize display changes” option under select video output behavior? The default is “allow display changes.” Please let me know what happens when you play a native 4k SDR title with that particular setting. Also check if the video is being displayed in it’s native form.

Not at home currently but I will take screenshots of what I changed later. I could have misremembered where the option was.
Default means the UI is 60hz. I turned QMS on in the S95C TV settings and that made it worse. So turned it off, and set the V UI to 24p. Have no issues after i did that, other than the UI is slower.

I have been in email contact with support (Rusty) and outlined everything I have tried...including hooking straight to projector, UI at 24, Bypass mode on the AVR.

Latest was that "has formally escalated this to our engineering team to investigate and will let you know what they discover"

So we shall see I suppose!

I got the same response from the aforementioned gentleman. Fwiw the “escalation” happened over a week ago. Haven’t heard anything since, no follow up email or ticket/case number etc.

Just bought a V that will arrive on Tuesday.

You guys are scaring me. LOL

Strato V >> Monoprice HTP-1 >> Lumagen RP >> JVC RS3000

Does the Strato C not have this issue?

I’m in a similar boat, first with the edge enhancement that the player is applying and then with this as I have a Denon x3800h and an LG G2. It does feel like it needed a bit more time in the oven, but their audience is primarily very high end HTs so they probably focused on those devices, as you mentioned, and projectors over TVs.

Basically just waiting until the issues are fixed before I buy one.

Yeah definitely expected some more communication to keep me updated. Thank God for this forum, else I would have probably gone insane..lol.

Can you (or anyone else) do me a huge favor as it has been bugging me for a while; can you change the settings for display output behavior to “minimize display changes” and play a native 4K SDR title? It is currently at default “allow display changes.” When I did that the UI looked gorgeous in HDR but the content (4k-SDR) showed up as HDR as well. I don’t think that’s right, but I stand to be corrected.
