NEWS: Strato V Player Announced

Does the referral code slow down the setup process? Do you have to enter it only during the initial setup phase? I read somewhere that another member (I believe it was Dave Harper, but I could be mistaken) was having some issues during setup after entering the code, with the system struggling to recognize the code. I’m not quite sure if he went through with the process.

Since this is my first rodeo on this platform I’m just trying to eliminate any potential pitfalls. I would be setting up my V over the weekend.
It shouldn't slow down the process. When you create your account and activate your system, there's a space on the web form to enter the referral code.

Note that the referral code is in the form of a URL, like: https: //kaleidesca.pe/joeblow12345

(I had to add a space to that URL to keep the forum software from turning it into a preview!)

You can enter the whole URL on the form, or you can just put the part after the last / ("joeblow12345" in the fake URL above)

The remote controls individual players so you have to pick the player (within your system) you want to control.

John
Correct. For example, here's what the zone selection looks like on my system, which has two paired Co-Star Zones (Theater Strato, Distributed Strato, a Strato V, and an un-paired M700 Disc Vault). Depending on which player I want to control, I pick the appropriate one from the list.

Hey, good question, not previously asked unless I missed it! I checked with the content team and we're just adding those as they're completed, so not batching them up to release on any specific day.

For new releases, we expect those to have Dolby Vision at launch when available. There's always a chance that some movie may add it after the fact, but in general it should be from launch.
@MikeKobb , thanks for confirming!

Had the content team said if these will be detailed in either the movie updates and/or New to 4K section? Or maybe even a new section to be created like “New to Dolby Vision”?

Thanks again!

Yes it was me. It wasn’t an issue at all activating and getting the referral credits. In fact I got the credits way faster than I ever expected!

The only issue was just getting the code to use. Once a great member here shared his code, it was quite seamless.

When you’re at that screen you can add my code and we will both get the credits. 😊 Shoot me a PM and I’ll share it now so you’ll be ready when the time comes, unlike me!

Thanks for that. Appreciate it.

Dave, I read on Avs that you use (and very impressed) with the JMGo ultra. I currently own an Epson 12000 in my Ht, but since there is no Dolby vision support on projectors, i was planning to get the Xgimi ultra (to pair with the V) for my secondary setup, since it “natively” supports Dolby vision. I believe the Xgimi is one of the world’s first long throw projectors to support DoVi.

I wonder if you are doing something similar in your setup with the V. I’m exploring various options, as I don’t want to limit my V application to just displays. Although it would pair perfectly with my 83” oled in the living room.

It won't be in Movie Updates, because adding a new 4K variant doesn't fit the current definition of an "update". An update is a new version of an existing quality variant that you already have on your system. Example: you have the 4K HDR10 version of movie XYZ downloaded, and we are able to add an Atmos audio track. This is an update per the current definition. If you had the 4K SDR version of XYZ and a 4K HDR10 version was added, that would not be an update, and the same is true for the addition of Dolby Vision. This might change in the future but there are various complications to treating those additions as updates, and those would need to be worked through.

I do think we're likely to see a Movie Store collection that's something like "New to Dolby Vision" or similar, sort of like we have for "New 4K Arrivals" today.

This is a comment on K international pricing. I have been waiting for a reasonably priced K product, with Dolby Vision, and was delighted to hear of the Strato V - assuming the $ to £UK price would be about one to one - $4000 or £4000- even given the UK conversion rate makes the $ price closer to an equivalent £3000.

Instead the price is over £5300, or very nearly $7000!
I don't want you UK folks to think that I'm ignoring you. I'm unfortunately not well informed about what goes into international pricing, so I have reached out to the folks who are. I'll either post a reply when I get an answer, or they may chime in directly. Please expect this to take a little time as they are currently traveling.

Have you looked into an HDFury Vertex 2/vroom? They can add LLDV capability to the EDID so that the source player willl see the projector as being LLDV capable. Hopefully this should also be applicable to the Strato V.
They also allow for Dolby Vision parameters (min/max luminance, etc.) to suit your projector so that content will be displayed correctly. HDR slider 1 with DV max luminance of around 300 works best with the LS12000.
I should be able to test this out when my V arrives. Unfortunately UK units won’t be shipped until the end of the month.

Thanks. Yes I I have looked into that and was seriously considering to incorporate vroom 8k with the epson, in my primary setup. I look forward to your test results with the V.

New to Dolby Vision like “New to 4K Arrivals” would be perfect and exactly what I would personally be looking for.

Regardless, great work by you and @J.Green and the rest of the entire team for not only the smooth rollout but taking so much time to engage with all of us and answer the many questions you all get on a daily basis!

I just bought a new Strato C player (new version with blue front panel light): is there any trade up program if I want a Strato V?

Does anyone know if the power supply/Cord is the same on the V as it is on the C? I'm in for a chore to swap mine out if not.

Don't think so - sure I read it somewhere, maybe even on here.
