NEWS: Strato V Player Announced

There is a selection at the top of the remote app for which system you are connecting to. Did you name them differently?

Also, there was recently an update to the app in the App Store so maybe it needs the newest version?

Did I name them differently? Not intentionally...:ROFLMAO:

I grouped to my system and it shows under my system but the component shows as Strato V.

Almost like it's in my system but not if that makes sense......I've tried removing and re-adding component and still get the same result.

I'm assuming to fix completely, I probably need to deactivate the component and/or the system and then reactivate vs. just removing and adding component to correct but I prefer not to go that route...

As someone new here because the Strato V has addressed several things (entry price, Dolby Vision) to get me seriously interested in joining, do I just PM the certified dealers? Kind of unclear on the protocol. Also have tried and looked for a list of blu ray drives compatible with Kaleidescape for disc to digital (beyond the ones they certified themselves) as I want one that can also rip 4k discs. I bought the LG WH14NS40 with an externally powered enclosure and want to make sure it works with Kaleidescape as well.
If you have a current home theater designer/dealer that sells Kaleidescape, you should continue to work through that dealership that can help you with these types of questions and additional support.

If you don't yet have a dealer, you could work with any of the ones that post here... look for ones that have been around here for a long time, made many helpful posts, and get good reviews from users here. I really can't/shouldn't steer you to one particular dealer, but the dealers here all have "Authorized Kaleidescape Dealer" badge on their profiles.

As for the list of compatible blu-ray drives... I'm on my mobile device now and can't really search for you, but I know it's been posted here... probably in the Hardware forum. Also, i know some members have posted some blu-ray players that were NOT on the official list but have now been shown to be compatible. If you can't find it or no one else jumps in to steer you, I'll try to search tonight and send you a link or two.

EDIT - here's Kaleidescape list of 3 compatible external players: https://support.kaleidescape.com/article/Disc-to-Digital-Offers-Using-USB-Drive
i know there are more that have been shown to be compatible, but can't find those posts here on the forum at the moment.

I purchased this one and it has been perfect. It’s on the higher end of the recommended models but will also do UHD if Kaleidescape ever enables the feature for D2D purposes, so it’s future proof:

Side note, I got mine off eBay for under $200 brand new so it was a no brainer. Has not had a problem with any DVD or BR disc in my collection to date….

I just want to be sure, since you edited your earlier post — is everything working okay for you now with the remote?

@MikeKobb , yes I can do the drop down fine.

Not sure why it’s not one system but it’s a small issue and probably because I added the Strato V in the grouping wrong somehow, not a huge issue.

Thanks!

@MikeKobb , without any firm commitment, is the overall plan to add DV titles on a weekly basis for previously released films ala once a week movie sale prices?

I know there is a plan to do the updates for HD titles to the new encoding as a priority but I didn’t see info regarding DV rollout for older titles (unless I missed or it’s lumped in with HD encoding conversions still pending)….

Pah thats rubbish..is this just a usa favourite system…

@MikeKobb just checking if I am correct. Once my V arrives (I already have a Strato C & terra), I will need to manually delete older versions of any new DV movies I download as updates?

No, it's because we had originally considered doing something a bit more fancy, where you'd get the referral credit and also earn a chance to win something additional. That sort of program is technically a "sweepstakes" and has a bunch of legal requirements, and they're different by country (and by state in the USA, in some cases), so we decided to trial it in the USA first.

We later ended up dropping the additional piece because even limited to the USA it was too complicated. We should re-examine expanding the program to our other territories. Unfortunately, that will require additional engineering to update the referral mechanisms, so it probably won't happen very quickly.

Yes, we don't currently have automatic deletion for cases like this.

Hey, good question, not previously asked unless I missed it! I checked with the content team and we're just adding those as they're completed, so not batching them up to release on any specific day.

For new releases, we expect those to have Dolby Vision at launch when available. There's always a chance that some movie may add it after the fact, but in general it should be from launch.

Understand but still……

Yeah, I understand that it's frustrating. Unfortunately, we are not a giant company with unlimited resources, so we have to choose carefully what we devote resources to, especially engineering. Launching a new player on top of an entirely new hardware platform from a new SoC vendor while simultaneously launching a new content format into our storefronts, and a content conversion effort for older HD content... well, it has tended to be an all-hands-on-deck undertaking.

The remote controls individual players so you have to pick the player (within your system) you want to control.

Does the referral code slow down the setup process? Do you have to enter it only during the initial setup phase? I read somewhere that another member (I believe it was Dave Harper, but I could be mistaken) was having some issues during setup after entering the code, with the system struggling to recognize the code. I’m not quite sure if he went through with the process.

Since this is my first rodeo on this platform I’m just trying to eliminate any potential pitfalls. I would be setting up my V over the weekend.
