Movie Updates

where does it let you download thes improvements. my system says already on my system
Under "Manage" there is a Movie Updates selection.

In my case I also get a notification of the Update when I go into my K-store account.

You can find all of the titles that you have downloaded for which there is an update available under Mangae > Movie Updates on the web store or by selecting More > Movie Updates in the mobile app.

If a movie you have downloaded to your system isn't listed on the "Movie Updates" page in the store and/or there isn't an "Update Available" menu item on the title's detail sheet in the store then you already have the latest version of that movie.

HDR Update - Video quality improvements/Added Extended Edition

Hope we see an update to the 4K Bram Stoker's Dracula from Sony soon. The new 4K disc looks appreciably better than the previous 4K and Apple has already updated. Subtitles look better too. K always seems REALLY slow with Sony titles for some reason (the exact opposite of Paramount), so hopefully it isn't on the super back burner.

I was watching "Bodies Bodies Bodies" last night and there were occasional white lines - like static - going across the screen. No such artifacts on the next movie I watched ("The Matrix.") So I wonder if there's a problem with the master. Anybody else watched it and had something similar?

Watched it last week, can’t say I remember any issues like that. How obvious were they? I suppose I could have just missed them.

It just looked like an occasional white static line flashing across the image. Happened maybe 8 times through the film. I also thought some audio seemed slightly out of sync. Specifically noticeable was when they play the drinking game with the slaps - the slapping sounds came awkwardly too late. But the audio sync problem was only noticeable earlier in the film. As it progressed, that seemed to go away. The white static-like lines across the image went through most of the movie, though it wasn't constant.

The first thing to try would be to rewind and play the same scene again to see if the artifact appears in the same place. If so, it could be a problem with the download. If not, it's most likely an HDMI issue.

Does anyone know what the update is ‘improving’?

I hit update on our copy but I am always intrigued to know what the update is. As a minimum, the area of update (I.e. added an audio format or improved video or whatever. but the more info the better really. It’s a bit like software updates. I like to have some sort of sense of what is supposed to change even though I might not ever use it.

Something to do with the extended version being available now? I didn't notice if that was there before.

When content is prepared by K to be published in the Store it goes through a series of processes, including their bookmarking process. It is also evaluated from a video and audio perspective. If it meets a required level of quality, it is released in the Store. Using K's standards, if they see issues that prevent the content from being released, they report that back to the content controlling entity (my term). If K believes there are minor issues that should be corrected, they make those known as well. If they subsequently receive an improvement to the audio or video of a particular movie, they add that to their Store and notify owners of that content that improvements are available. They do not list them because in most cases they are minor corrections in a particular scene, or a minor fix to the audio, things we might not even notice, but are still important to K because of their quality standards.

Looks likes the extended version is an additional $20, while the improvements (to the theatrical version) are a free download.

I get that, but on the other hand, it doesn't really give us a reason on why we should burn data cap, lose bookmarks/scenes, etc. by "upgrading." And that's before getting into the tiny chance that it introduces something that wasn't present before (either a new glitch in the encode, as a result of moving where it is stored, or just because reality decides to hiccup at that exact moment.) This also doesn't help any owner who might have noticed it before to know "their issue" is resolved now.
