Views on Kaleidescape's secrecy policies

To The Moderator

Josh, this subject has run its course and I wouldn't want to see it degrade. Can you close this thread for us.
Thanks very much to everyone who contributed. See you all in the new Kaleidescape store !!!

Peter

Hi Peter, being that you are the OP it may be possible to honor the request to close the thread but I'll let Josh decide. Once these discussions start, and assuming they remain cordial, we tend to leave them open for all that have an opinion. You can certainly ignore this thread going forward, or perhaps Josh will agree and close it.

the download store is a great example- obviously someone got information and it made its way here.

It wasn't exactly secret at CEDIA - they had it on their popup marketing material - just no detail to go with it.

I think that is actually the real problem. Everyone can see that this class of product is probably in a bit of trouble (in the not too distant future) if it remains reliant on shiny discs - both from the mainstream coming upwards and the likes of Prima Cinema. So K come out and say we've got a store on the way, but the lack of any kind of detail makes people a bit nervous about what this might actually mean (arthouse content or mainstream? world wide coverage? video quality? etc). A little more detail would have probably gone a long way towards easing such concerns.

Hi Peter, I think it's interesting to hear others' opinion... and while there are some very different opinions, I don't think it's devolved into personal attacks or nastiness. It may bother people that as they read it and want to contribute, they find it's now closed to further discussion. So I'd tend to keep it open... things run their course and stop getting comments eventually.

Drop me a PM if you want to talk more about it. Happy to try to help or resolve it.

I would just like to say that this is the type of discussion that on other forums quickly deteriorates.

It's nice to see everyone on this forum keep the discussion classy and civil.

Nice job to those participating in the discussion! It was interesting reading the different sides.
