US Digital Releases for September & October 2026

Pre-Order
Angel and the Badman (2026) in SDR/HD from Angel Studios

Surprise digital release on other stores (Apple, Movies Anywhere confirmed so far): Battle Royale Director's Cut in 4K Dolby Vision! Previously only the theatrical cut was available in 4K DV with the Director's Cut limited to HD on digital (both available on disc from Lionsgate). Now we have both available digitally!
Of course, K never got the prior 4K upgrade (though they taunt us with the current art) so if you want these added to the K Store get those requests in: movies@kaleidescape.com

BTW, I'm half expecting Dreamworks' latest "Forgotten Island" to appear digitally this week. But that just came out September 25th??? Yes, and bombed. Hard. Universal moves those to digital quickly and this Tuesday is the first candidate. I've heard nothing but good reviews of the movie with both critics and audiences giving it 95% and A ratings. It looks like this is one that got doomed by terrible marketing. Hopefully it'll find its audience at home and I'm sure we'll see it before the end of October if it doesn't show up Tuesday.

P.S. For the 3D fans, this is supposed to be the best 3D seen from Dreamworks in years. Catch it on Apple Vision Pro (hopefully soon on Meta).

The source I look up indicates an October 27 release for Forgotten island. It's a really fun, zany, entertaining romp, really geared towards kids and younger audiences. I enjoyed the movie but was wildly disappointed by the 3d conversion, which typically looks great in my theater, since it's plenty bright. Spiderman Brand New Day in 3D, on the other hand, was top tier.
This Tuesday, we should be getting Runner, Practical Magic 2, and hopefully--"Hope" one of my favorites this year. That's going to be an instant purchase.

Confirmed the Runner date and added to the list; others already present. I’m expecting more last-minute announcements or it’s going to be a slow week on K if they avoid all the catalog horror releases.

Marble Hall Murders (2026) in SD from PBS

The Marlow Murder Club (Season 3) (2026) in SD from PBS

I'm hopeful that we see a digital purchase release of Masters of the Universe (2026) in the next few weeks. Another Amazon/MGM film that did the "Prime Video First" release thing was Sheep Detectives which recently showed up for sale late Sept. Following the same schedule, late Oct would see Masters of the Universe arrive. But, with digital, who knows?

BTW, the 1987 Masters of the Universe is also distributed by MGM and readily available digitally (HD only; 4K is currently disc exclusive). If you want to see that one, I'd suggest getting a request in to: movies@kaleidescape.com

Just requested. Can never have enough of those Frank Langella lines!

For all the new K owners that are wondering why we get SD content from PBS: For whatever reason, Kaleidescape's contract with PBS limits them to content available physically and these two seasons were released on DVD this month.

"But you always say K has nothing to do with discs?" Yup, every rule has an exception. :)

I wouldn't wonder why it is in SD, but I would wonder why Kaleidescape bothers at all in carrying such a low quality content format. It feels like this is against what the buyer in this platform stands for. I haven't spent time watching SD content in over 10 years and would certainly never spend money on it. I would think it opens the door for people to buy it by mistake and be disappointed in what they see.

Would hope KScape spends it resources towards building a more premium catalog of content.

Totally, I completely concur. These products are available digitally on other stores in HD. While there may be arguments about HD on K vs. 4K streaming, there's absolutely no such argument on SD on K vs. HD streaming. HD streaming wins 100%. No one interested in these titles should buy them on K in my opinion. So, why does K have them? Because they have a contract with PBS and it does allow them access to some HD content. K has made statements on their PBS relationship before stating that they want more and are working to get more. Better to have something and hope to grow than not to have anything at all. I can agree with them on that.

Omigosh! This is one of my core movies on my Plex server! Would love to shift it over to K.

I know it is old, but any idea we will ever see stuff like Street Fighter in HD on the K (currently only SD) and sticking to my Bluray disc :)
Same for stuff like Iron Eagle which is not on the K at all :(

PRE-ORDER

PRE-ORDER

Is it special pricing for Pre-order vs. regular release date? Will it go up to $29.99 or $34.99 as we get closer to release?

Also, with Nolan doing the variable aspect ratio on previous releases on BD. So, the question is, will this be in constant 1.78:1.

"The upcoming 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray release of Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey is reported to feature a fixed 1.78:1 aspect ratio rather than a variable aspect ratio (VAR) that shifts between different frames. [1, 2]"
