US & BR Releases for May & June 2025

Wow! Labyrinth just popped up in 4K as well! Glad to move this one over to Kaleidescape.

Oh hell yeah! I was worried about the Earth being thrown off its axis, which I'm pretty sure is what happens when you carry one 80's Henson fantasy movie without the other. :)

For all those following along at home, this is the new HDR/Dolby Vision version of the movie. The previously available version never had HDR.

Thank you K!!!

That’s great! Keep ‘em coming Shout Factory! Maybe there is hope for Halloween, The Fog, Carrie, etc etc 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Timecop was added on iTunes in 4K HDR/Dolby Vision from Shout yesterday also…
Would love to see that show up on K Store also…

And literally right after I posted that it was added to the Store…

Added in HD/HDR/DV with DTS-HD MA 5.1 from Shout Factory…

Looked at this tonight and the HDR10 version on K is definitely sourced from the DV grade. A big improvement over the HDR10 grade on the disc. Water is actually blue at times and there’s color and contrast instead of 50 shades of gray. Not a perfect grade but an improvement.

I wonder if Labyrinth has a similar improvement

Lethal Weapon directors cut 4k on UK store
Now that’s a surprise. I thought surely K would only get the Theatrical Cut. It’ll be interesting to see what hits digital in general in the US. I’m assuming two separate purchases of Theatrical and Director’s Cuts in 4K Dolby Vision. I can’t imagine K getting both if that’s the case, so Director’s Cut is unexpected.

UPDATE: As expected, other digital stores have received both cuts in 4K Dolby Vision just like the disc. However, another surprise is that it's in a single package (and free update for Apple owners). No separate purchases! (Again, I don't expect this on K.)

I recently bought the lethal weapon set on sale presuming I would also purchase the 4K upgrade when it came out but it seems the only 4K version is the directors cut and considered a different title so I have to pay full price. That’s annoying.

I have come to accept, and long since made peace with, the fact that 'annoying' and 'Kaleidescape' are synonyms.

Just FYI, it is Warner so if you D2D that discount is in place ($4.92). This is similar to what happened with Amadeus (also Warner). The distinction here is that Amadeus was the same on all digital stores, while for Lethal Weapon other digital stores are recognizing it as the same title and offering upgrades (or free with Apple). However, those offerings include both cuts of the movie. As we all know, K is very cautious with multiple cuts as it involves the same amount of resources as another title while limiting the audience.

I'm slightly surprised that they picked the Director's Cut this time as they usually just go with the Theatrical Cut. Obviously Warner will be following up for releases for the sequels and I wonder if K's intention is to only get the Director's Cuts of each, thereby providing both Director (4K) and Theatrical (HD) of all titles? Or, I'm putting in more thought than K did and someone there likes the (darker) Director's Cut* more.

*For the record, the "Director's Cut" of Lethal Weapon (and I believe of all sequels) had no involvement of the director (the late, great Richard Donner). Rather, it was a studio produced cut meant to increase DVD sales and includes a number of deleted scenes and alternate music.

Interested in any early reviews as I know the prior HD versions on K were not well received and had multiple issues (due to the actual studio master files, if memory serves me correctly)….

Still crossing my fingers for a slightly late release of St. Elmo's Fire in 4K HDR/DV...

Hopefully will watch Directors cut of Lethal Weapon over the weekend.
No 2 was initially censor cut in the UK for cinema release, cuts were restored for recent video releases

Unfortunately I don’t own the disc. Not sure why I never bought them as I love these movies. Initial reviews of the 4k version are very good so I’ll likely just suck it up and buy the 4K on K.
