Unboxing & First Look, Initial Impressions

Reset to factory and reinstalled everything, Lumagen now works most of the time

Activities works :)
Beta FW is much better, still loses sync randomly.
Lumagen input selector doesnt work, any ideas ?
I’m having no issues with switching inputs by just using the input number. So to switch to input 2, just set your button to “2” and so on.

On one of your videos, you mentioned that it was much easier to setup if using Home Assistant first. Is this still the case? I don't expect my Remote 3 in until the end of March 2026, so I have time now to setup the Home Assistant prior to that if necessary.

Using Home Assistant alongside the Remote 3 makes it an extremely versatile solution. I recommend setting up and using Home Assistant with any theater setup with any remote. Use HA for automation, your remote for control, and HA can augment the remote if you have equipment that isn’t directly supported by the remote.

However, as more community integrations are developed and come online, HA is becoming more of an option than a requirement. I’m still using HA but only to add a couple lighting scene controls to the remote, other than that the HA setup controls all automation in the theater regardless of what remote I’m using.

I would use it only as a Harmony replacement, so no lighting, etc. If you’re saying for “Automation”, not sure what that means? Just using Remote 3 for devices and activities that are on the Harmony now.

Do you know if it would be possible to add an automation to Home Assistant where I could change the Hisense TV video mode from "Theater Day" to "Theater Night" based on the HDR flag of the Envy? If not, maybe on the Remote 3 itself? I haven't received the Remote 3 yet but I am now working on the Home Assistant app, but it only a few days now so I'm fairly new to this.

Those are two devices I don’t own so I can’t say for sure but I would assume the integrations contain the necessary control and sensors.

The JVC integration in using has little more than power and input, but essentially you create an automation with a TRIGGER that says [when MadVR sensor value is SDR] and add an ACTION that says [send {preset} command to HiSense] and then do the opposite for HDR.
