Terra 8TB SSD price increase Feb 1st

Just received notification that the Mini Terra Prime Movie Server 8TB SSD price will increase February 1st from $5995 to $7995. So if you are interested in obtaining one I would recommend contacting your dealer without delay.

Almost certainly related to the NAND flash shortages. It’s driving up all SSD prices.

HDD prices have also surged in price because of the A.I data centres so unless they stocked up on loads after the Trump tariff rises, at some point it’s going to hit them too unfortunately.

Having had several phone conversations with Kaleidescape recently, I can confirm that Kaleidescape is definitely being affected by both SSD and hard drive price increases.

As of today here is the current Terra line up:

Mini Terra Prime Movie Server 8 TB (SSD) — $5995 until Feb 1st

Terra Movie Server (Compact) - 18TB — $7995

Terra Prime Movie Server 48 TB1— $17,995

Terra Prime Movie Server 96 TB — $29,995

All other Terra models are no longer available.

Though please note that the above line up could well change going forward due to SSD and hard drive price increases.

Note that if you prefer Terra SSD storage for long term use that you can group two Mini Terra’s for 16TB or three (24TB) or four (32TB) as in the Terra line you can have up four in a given system. As you can see from the above example having more than one Terra is additive in terms of storage space.

Best Buy is still showing the 31TB full size SSD Terra Prime as in stock. Is that going away once stock is out?

I hope Kaleidescape can survive these cost increases going forward. Just when I jumped into the ecosystem, things seem to be going south quickly.

What about the players with built in solid state storage (M, E, V), - will those devices also see price increases soon?

At this time due to their minimal storage I don’t know of any forthcoming price increases on Strato players with built in solid state storage (M, E, V).

Yes that’s correct the 31TB full size SSD Terra Prime will no longer be available once stock is out. Though note that with multiple 8TB SSD Mini Terra’s the cost of storage (at today’s pricing) is less than that of a 31TB full size SSD Terra Prime — plus with more than one Terra in a system you then have full redundancy in terms of storage.
