I watched Supergirl over the weekend with my family. Watched it in 4K Cinematic HDR. I thought the film was very average at best, the story was very weak. It didn't have any of the heart and emotion that I felt with Superman (2025). I could not find a single scene I would ever use as demo material either. I thought the audio and video was just ok, nothing to ride home about. So I immediately deleted the film off of my 24tb Terra Server. Not sure I will ever see it again.

What did you all think?
 
I just didn’t enjoy Superman (2025) at all, so I guess I’m starting with a very low bar..lol. I’m not used to seeing my iconic heroes having their a$$ kicked throughout the film. Lol. Having grown up with the late great C.Reeve Superman movies, this was a culture shock to say the least. Henry Cavill was a nice alternative as well.

I’m still looking forward to watching Supergirl since the preliminary feedback appears to be favorable towards the HT aspects of the presentation. I’m all in for a good HT experience (audio and PQ). Plus I’m an unapologetic DC fan.

I actually didn't mind Superman getting pummeled throughout the film. It made him more vulnerable. That's the problem I had with Snyder's Superman, he was way too over-powered in my opinion. As far was Supergirl being favorable to the HT aspects of presentation, I would say temper those expectations as well. It was just ok, I promise you won't ever use it as demo material to show a friend what your rig can do I can guarantee you that lol.

I know that Superman wasn't for everybody, but I truly loved it. I literally got very emotional several times in that film. I love the score especially. It's not John Williams but it uses the JW score as a structural heartbeat which I found genius.

Sounds like some people love the Cross-Fit, Darker tone, over-powered Snyder Supes over this new one and you know what? that is ok!
 
I normally ignore reviews and metacritic scores ...but in this case given that the feedback from sources I tend to agree with seem to all agree ...when it comes to comic book adaptions...Supergirl will be a rental if I watch it at all. Too much proof that they total butchered the source material which was on my favorite comic books ever. Rumor is the screen writer essentially admitted to not reading the source comic...:(

Yes, I was told that those who are fans of the graphic novel Woman of Tomorrow will be very disappointed. They use certain aspects of that novel but they don't go all-in to what makes that graphic novel work so well.

I thought that scene was awesome, I was on the edge of my seat. Then again, I read many Superman comics and could see something like that happening. That's another thing I loved about it, it was the most comic book Superman we have ever seen on the big screen. I grew up on Christopher Reeves Superman and he will forever be MY Superman. But I was over the moon giddy with this version of Superman. It gave me something fresh and new. I am looking forward to Man of Tomorrow!

For most part I enjoyed watching Superman (2025) but not something I will watch again. At first I was glad to see them at least appearing to go back to hopeful superman but then like you said...seeing him get his a$$ kicked all the time ruined it for me. That and the punk rock music....and the awful CGI dog....which from what I gather is even worse in Supergirl. I miss C.Reeve sups. Man of Steal was pretty good (especially as a tech demo) IMO but again not my idea of who Sups is.

I saw the first minute or so and was shocked at how shoddy the audio and picture was - not demo material at all (I’ll probably see the whole thing soon but I got a bad vibe from the opening credits).

I thought the PQ overall was 8.6/10
Sound was descent as well 8.1/10

This movie was much better than Superman 2025, omg what a terrible movie whas that, just a kids movie!
Man of Steel became a Joker, in a very bad way, because the Joker was great.

Seems general consensus is that those not familiar with the source comic enjoyed the movie while those that are REALLY hated it. I still plan to watch the movie when its on "cheap" rental since I read the source comic and thought it was one of the better comic books I have ever read.
 
Thought I’d chime in here.. finally got to watch supergirl last night since it went on sale.. I watched the YT reviews from Shane and the other guy and they made it seem like the audio and video quality was off the charts. However Shane had the disk version and the other was Kscape.

Personally, from the first few scenes, the video didn’t look great to me. I expected a very sharp and digital looking image but it came across as soft and without grain. (Which my tv doesn’t handle grain well anyway). After a bit into the movie, the video seemed much better.
As for the audio, I felt it was awesome! Plenty of bass (tho not too much of emphasized 20hz and below) and atmos was pretty good.

As for the story etc, I actually kinda liked it better than I thought I would based on all of the horrible reviews I’d seen. Even the end kinda got to me. I will say this movie kept my attention much more than Superman.

After reading everyone’s comments on here and considering the YT reviews etc, it seems to me that supergirl can look and sound very different depending on the equipment used.
