Supergirl (2026) My Thoughts...

For whatever it's worth, I watched the HDR10 version of Supergirl tonight, with a Strato C. My theater gear is in my signature.

I thought the picture quality was, at times, exceptional, with great detail and colors, along with great blacks and contrast. But like any other movie, some scenes certainly looked softer, with much less contrast. It's just the nature of the beast - because one scene can be quite different from others in terms of lighting, whether it's a wide angle view of action, or a close-up of a person's face and clothing, there are going to be marked differences in the image.

So overall I really enjoyed the picture quality, and I've come to expect that not every scene is going to have the same level of detail, sharpness, and contrast.

Thanks and well said. As I mentioned, later in the movie I noticed much better quality.. it was just something in the opening scenes that her face looked really soft. (Also I had expectations going into it). I bought it so I can rewatch and maybe mess with some settings. Maybe I’ll try the hdr version also.
Sorry if my message came across as I didn’t enjoy the picture quality as I very much did!! Part of it may be a result of hatoraid and Shane’s reviews on how they described the video quality.
Either way, I’m still blown away by the video and audio quality of my strato V, can only imagine what the sK and 4Kc looks like!
 
Cinematic hdr on strato K

The movie it self i think isnt that awesome but oke(ish), i think they didnt get the casting right if you ask me.
The sound and picture quality was really really good, perfect blacks good deep colors with some pop and some really nice highlights.
To be honest you dont see that often.
Pretty clean looking and still being filmisch.
I liked it a lot
 
I got my Strato K on Friday and watched Supergirl last night. The film looks great in 4K Cinematic. The colors and blacks are intense. Too bad the film is not very good. Every time Superman showed up I was reminded how much better that movie was. Still, it was rather entertaining at times.
 
This did look and sound really good, not a fan of the latest superman film and thought this was better when watching at the cinema. Did enjoy the home viewing and looked stunning in the new cinematic format.
 
For me Lobo was the MVP. Lol.

I wish they would flesh out his character in an upcoming release.

Our family watched it last night (Strato V). I actually enjoyed it but the rest of the family was just meh. I thought the Atmos track was very good with nice use of surrounds and heights.

Having grown up with the late great C.Reeve Superman movies, this was a culture shock to say the least. Henry Cavill was a nice alternative as well.

I’m still looking forward to watching Supergirl since the preliminary feedback appears to be favorable towards the HT aspects of the presentation. I’m all in for a good HT experience (audio and PQ). Plus I’m an unapologetic DC fan.

I'm with you there. I didn't enjoy Superman at all. I'm a comics fan but by no means a Superman fan but this was just a waste of time. I'm tired of Gunn's Mommy/Daddy issue trope.

I have 0 interest in Supergirl. I'll have to be mighty bored and have absolutely nothing else to watch before I start up Supergirl.

Its interesting....even when word of Supergirls flop at the box office came out..i was still interested in watching it...as I normally do not listen to reviewers..in fact the more they hate something the more I am usually interested in it. But then i kept reading all the stuff Gunn and whatever her face is (writer) trying to defend its failure were putting out and blaming the fans...I became less and less interested...to the point I will simply never watch it. Never thought I would say this but I miss the Snyder DCEU :) James Gunn is so annoying.
 
I didn't care for Supergirl and my issues were driven by character, story, and structure. Spoilers...

We're introduced to a clearly damaged alcoholic that doesn't seem to care about anyone or anything outside of her dog. Throughout the film we see flashbacks and she repeatedly prevents killing as revenge due to what it does to the perpetrator. Obviously, the flashbacks are building towards her killing someone resulting in the current state of her character. But, no. In fact, at the climax of the film she kills the villain while he's laying prone on the ground, then goes back to being a hero and returning to Earth. Because murder in cold blood heals all wounds? Honestly, I sat staring at the screen just absolutely baffled.

The movie was infamous for poor test screenings, re-writes, and re-shoots, but somehow this was the best version of this story? Was the script this terrible? Speaking of which, Lobo's constant presence didn't help me. His first appearance was an obvious cameo ending with a zinger. Great, fine, cool. Then he keeps showing up? For no reason? Obvious products of the aforementioned rewrites/reshoots, but again how bad was the original script? Anyway, in the end I didn't care about Supergirl, I don't even remember the sidekick, and I'm less interested in a Lobo movie. Great work,Warner/DC.

Have you read the source comic?

In the end she overcomes her issues by being a hero and symbol of hope...not being a blood thirsty killer...the fate of the villian is left up to reader interpretation

I here the same woman that wrote the screenplay for Supergirl 2026 is on tap for new DCEUs Wonder Woman....ouch.

This should make one think:

The Supergirl 2026 writer said something to the effect that "she wanted to make a female empowering movie, one that mothers would want to take their daughters too".

Girl empowering movies are great for everyone if they are not preaching and insulting people who are genuinely interested in the product. Hollywood as of late wants to get up in front of their core audience and tell them what they should think or believe. I'm sorry, I'm here for entertainment. If you are here to try and spread some sort of gospel, no thanks. Not what I'm paying for.
