Remote 3 kickstarter campaign

I was shipping number 900 and my remote just got to me today. It did take some time from customs in Denmark then on to Germany and finally to me in NJ. Packaging was impressive. Not going to lie.

Latest email update has them at 1967 remotes and 3071 docks. Still a rather lengthy wait for me by the looks of it. Anyone know why the difference between them. Don't they come as a set (remote and dock).

They were available a la carte or in bundles and there are two types of docks. People ordered multiple remotes and docks. Those with equipment racks in a separate room who needed IR ordered an extra dock to live in the machine room while another lived in the theater for charging and holding the remote. Lots of variables and flexibility.

I’m thinking I should’ve ordered 2 docks when I made my order. I’m hope it doesn’t take months to get another one if I need it.

Which is exactly what I did with mine. The shipping has been steady and I was happy to get mine when I did. They will come and you have all this time to prep for when yours arrives!

Try to find out what shipping number they are at for a clearer picture.

Looks like,e an update was sent out today and they are 50% complete with orders. What was your shipping number?

I received my remotes yesterday via FedEx to the US. I was low 3,000 shipping number.

I just broke down and ordered the Remote 3. I hope I like it. I really didn't want to do a Control 4 remote because of having to deal with dealers all the time for changes.

Just FYI, you only need a dealer when doing things like adding equipment. For Activities, Programming (Scripts/Macros), Custom Buttons, Changing Buttons, etc. you can do this yourself with a copy of Composer Pro Home Edition.

So, yeah, if you swap out your processor or add a Lumagen, you need someone to do that (can generally be done remotely in a very short period of time). But, you're not calling someone when you want to add a 2 second delay to K's intermission button raising the lights in your theater.

I also got turned off by the Control 4 dealer that was recommended to me by my Kaleidescape dealer. I left a couple of messages and emails with this dealer and never got a return email or call. It just seemed like he wasn't all that interested in getting a new customer.

Yeah, THAT. In my experience, A/V guys are notoriously unreliable. "I need two dedicated weeks of your time, I don't care about the cost." Two years later I've had 5-6 days. To be fair, if I needed something urgently done it'd get knocked out, but anytime I ask around I hear the same from everyone that's dependent upon someone for networking, security, automation, home theater, etc.

I love my Kaleidescape dealer. If he was also a Control 4 dealer, I would have purchased one a long time ago. The Unfolded Circle Remote 2 seems to get a lot of high reviews, so hoping the Remote 3 will be as good or better. You never know until you try it. :)

A product being only available from a dealer is one thing...but only programmable by a dealer is another. I simply will not buy something that requires dealers to setup, program or update.

The Remote 3 will require a rocket scientist to program though :ROFLMAO:
