Pricing has not been published, it is likely it will only be quoted at the time an order is being considered because of the constant pressure on drive costs.

Just to spitball what a price might reasonably be...

First approach is to extrapolate from their other products: If 8TB of SSD is $10K, and 246/8 is just a titch above 30, you can multiply this out to $300K. I feel pretty confident this is too high.

Second approach would be to look at price of storage. I don't think that their prices are generally based on component costs, but this could plausibly be one that's a closer to a straight markup on cost, and it at least sets a lower bound. So $1500 for 8TB seems to be a reasonable price at the moment, and this legitimately would be 30+ of those (call it 32 just for rounding). That's $48K all by itself at retail prices; presumably they can get better deals in volume, but also presumably not incredibly better deals. I'm not sure what kind of redundancy they do in these, but seems like they wouldn't have much, if at all, as all their data is easily redownloadable, so there's no reason to waste capacity on backup. Figure double the price of materials for retail cost and you end up at $100K.

If I recall correctly, there's one dude out there that replaces all of his storage every time K releases some new monster Terra. Four server limitation? 4K Cinematic takes up more space? Might as well print the guy's name on it.

Here is the latest info I have on the Compact Terra Prime 246TB at this time:

The pricing will depend on the price of solid-state SSD’s at time of order. So each unit will be quoted at time of order and then custom built. More pricing info will be forthcoming either during or after CEDIA.

There are two solid-state drives in it; and the chassis, SSD drives, and power supply are all individually field replaceable.

I do love that everything is field-replaceable, SSD, and 2.5gbe. The case is nice too. Hopefully this approach trickles down to ALL of the servers going forward.

Interesting choice to keep 2.5gig ethernet port. I was expecting a bump to 5gig at least for faster cinematic downloads. Surely ssd can handle those speeds. FIOS just added their top tier speed to 5gig so a lot of ISPs are now offering ultra fast speeds.

I guess I’ll pass and wait for 512tb with faster ethernet port

Some searching around, seems there are several 122.88 TB drives out there. One MSRP I saw was $48,000.
So take two of those, the usual mark up, Jim may be pretty accurate on pricing.
