Movies on Sale...

What!!?? $44.99!! Talk about not caring about your customers.
"Barbie" has become Warner's highest grossing global release of all time, edging out "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," and it's not done with theatrical yet.

The more they ask, the less I'm willing to pay.

Paramount's typical $25 pre-order is a no-brainer for me. It's automatic. Warner likes me to wait until a sale. But at this rate, I'll just watch it on my free MAX subscription and they won't get anything above my AT&T mobile plan.

I really want to see it, but I refuse to pay their ransom.

Just the same here. It just wouldn't feel right. not sure what they are thinking.

Yeah, it’s a very good movie. If they offered it for $24.99 (like it is on iTunes) I’m sure a lot of people would buy it on K. $44.99 is just insulting.
Oh I don't disagree that the price is bananas! It'll drop eventually. I can wait.

I’m sure this is stated somewhere but if you preorder at $39.99 you can’t be charged $44.99?

How do I cancel a preorder? WB is out of control.
It's correct that you will be charged the posted amount from the time of your pre-order, not the increase.

If you do still want to cancel, if you login to your account and view your purchase history, you can cancel existing pre-orders.

Honestly, I don't feel insulted. My alternative is to take my family of four to see this movie in the theater, which all in is over $100. I have zero doubt that if I want to wait a month or three this will be $25 or whatever. But if I want to watch it now and be part of the zeitgeist discussion about the movie, maybe $45 makes sense. It's an experiment - they'll see how many people will pay for an early-ish home release of a white hot movie.

How soon we forget that a new movie on VHS would cost, like, $100!
Even crazier that it was $100 in 80's/90's money and it still sounds like a lot for a movie now.

$44 is way too much, but like most WB I kinda expect it to drop some when the disc version releases and wouldn't surprise me to see a $14-$19 flash sale within the first couple months.
