Woof, who is picking these titles? For every one we get that’s an awesome title we get 4-5 completely worthless ones. Is AI picking them??
Actually, AI would do a bettr job picking movies, I think.

Feed into it the most watched movies or maybe highest rated movies or the movies with the highest revenue per time quanta. Then it would pick similar movies.

Problem being, it would soon get into a rut of always picking thrillers, or romcoms, or something like that.

The theatrical cut of The Patriot updated to get DolbyTrueHD Atmos...but only on the HD version and not the 4K. I think this is the first I've seen something like this happen!

4K version just got Atmos too

Since getting my Strato E a few months back, I have yet to have any Disney/Fox titles go through any significant "Upgrades." They just announced this week that Mrs Doubtfire was getting a new 4K disc release, and I was wondering how it would work K. I just bought the movie earlier this week on K so pleasantly surprised to see the Dolby Vision and Atmos upgrade was completely free! I also didn't expect anything till the disc comes out, which is at the end of next month.

K’s release timing can be more closely tied to digital releases on Apple, VUDU, etc than disc.

Any updates within the same resolution (SD-HD-UHD) are generally free of charge (unless a studio change is what provides an update), but upgrades from one resolution to another have an (optional) charge that varies by studio.

Yeah it was my only movie that was 4K, but SDR only which I thought was a bit odd when I bought it. But in my quest to get rid of all my discs, I still wanted to buy it.

When it comes to upgrades like this on the digital platforms, is the release timing random? Or do they always get upgrades like this on a Friday?

TLDR; yeah, kinda random especially on K.

It all depends on the kind of release. Sometimes studios do digital updates on the day of a disc release. Sometimes it's in the general release window (not uncommon to see a bunch of digital updates at the beginning of the month of disc release). Other times it's a digital-only update and can show up anytime (these are the hardest to track). On top of all of that, there's the K factor. It could be that K simply doesn't get the update or doesn't get it at the same time as everyone else.
