Some of those titles updated above, are probably mezzanine files which were received by Kscape with full 4:4:4. Therefore the addition of C-HDR, to relay the same chroma to the K end user. As noted by Kscape earlier, C-HDR would only be added (in addition to DV and SDR) to files which were capable of delivering 4:4:4.

C-HDR will not be added in case those files were received in 4:2:2. In which case C-DV/SDR would be the designated format.

I’d be really careful with this super FOMO outlook on this. I can’t stress enough how insensitive we are to chroma resolution in the first place and the difference between 422 and 444 will be way beyond splitting hairs. If you are really worried about it (honestly this is beyond mountain for mole hill stuff) then download the DV and HDR10 version and then compare them. Use something like Toy Story where you are likely to notice chroma resolution more, especially with static images. He’ll, I would say to even download the non C version and put it in the mix too. Only problem there is the bitrate is different so you are not just seeing a difference in chroma resolution.

Merely stating it’s available; whether or not it makes any tangible difference is upto individual consumption. Experience is something which you cannot quantify. It’s an inherent human condition.

I (exclusively speaking for myself) would rather have my equipment capable of taking advantage of the revolutionary features provided by a company which has the testicular fortitude to push the envelope, where others are essentially content with maintaining status quo. Getting out of your comfort zone can be brutal sometimes. 🤣

Kriss - have you taken a “K” or considering one. No reason to ask other than I’d like to read your opinion.

Goddamn, Titanic wowed everyone on Saturday. Image density, black blacks, color, no compression artifacts, it all looked like being in a movie theater. Considering that particular 4K HDR file looked like an average upgrade over HD, this 4K C_HDR file is just amazing.

Can't wait to screen Speed Racer this weekend. Having a couple of extra friends over, and will need to figure out seating!

Can I come over, please? ;)

Haha! This is exactly how the Speed Racer screening is getting crowded!
I was testing my new UST the other week. And the first movie I tried that gave me the wow factor was Speed Racer. Looked even better than the Imax showing I caught on its theatrical release a few months ago. I can only imagine how K might improve from that. I'd honestly be shocked if it could.

Looking forward to your feedback. This is my reference demo (so far) on the K, along with Sinners.
