Movie Updates

Me and a few buddies noticed that the store has two Incredible Hulk movies. One with atmos the other without it! Just curious why they didn’t just update the movie to atmos?

There was a change in rights when the movie reverted to Disney. It was off the market for a stretch, then returned with Disney branding (and pricing) as well as Atmos. There's only one version currently for sale. If you own the prior release, I'd recommend picking up the current one at some point not only for the Dolby Atmos but also the inevitable Dolby Vision update.

Actually the store has 2 different movies, Hulk & The Incredible Hulk. The second one was a remake that came out over 10 years later. The first one only has 5.1. The second one has Dolby Atmos. But they are totallydifferent movies.

But if you look at The Incredible Hulk you'll see it has an "Other Versions" tab that shows the same movie without Atmos and unavailable for sale, that's what they're talking about.

Fun fact, I'm in "Hulk" for a split second as an extra.

My favorite Kaleidescape move. 😆

When mine updated from blu ray quality to 4k it didn’t have the atmos track! It says studio is Disney so it makes no sense that they didn’t offer atmos for the people that already has it

But they’re not the same titles.

Dude everything is exactly the same except cover art an atmos track! Just talked to Kaleidescape and it’s the same movie! Disney is just being greedy, that’s why you can’t purchase the version I have now! It’s unavailable

When will they release more iconic movies from this studio?

Just to be clear, the version that you have was distributed by Universal. It used to say Universal as the studio. The fact that is says Disney now is because K's "Studio" field appears to be live (Apple still shows Universal on legacy purchases).

When you made your purchase, the money went to Universal. When Universal's rights expired, that version was removed from all digital stores. Disney later released a new digital version of the movie, distributed by them, which added Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.

It's no different than Disney publishing a new 4K UHD Disc under their own branding and tweaking the features. (Which may very well happen closer to the release of Captain America: New World Order.)

@LoveCinema is exactly correct about this. I checked with our content team, and we’re not (yet) sure why the older version is being shown with Disney as the licensor, but it was definitely distributed by NBC Universal. There was a licensing change and the rights were acquired by Disney, so the version that is for sale today is not distributed by the same company that originally distributed.

We’re working on getting the data for the old version corrected to eliminate any confusion, but this is what’s going on.

Odd, it didn't pop a banner for me (or got buried by the other two.)

:D so the same - but different.

Field of Dreams (1988) in UHD with DTS-HD Master 5.1 from NBC Universal added (Previously HDR/HD only)

I purchased “Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters” 4K which indicates on the cover “New Unrated Cut” and is supposed to be 1hour and 37 minutes but when I downloaded it and played it, it only played the original version at 1 hour and 27 minutes. Anyone know about this issue and should I contact Kaleidescape support?

I hope you didn’t (inadvertently) purchase Gretel and Hansel.

No, it’s the one with Witch Hunters but it may just be an issue where the duration is listed incorrectly?

Fun flick. The "New Unrated Cut" has only ever been available in HD. This includes other digital stores as well as disc where the 4K UHD Blu-ray has this cut on the included 1080p HD Blu-ray. This holds true to K also.

If you download the HD version of this title, you'll get the unrated cut. If you download the 4K HDR version, you'll get the theatrical cut.

The store listing should really note this with a pop-up "Features" link. @MikeKobb ?
