Movie Updates

Suicide Squad updated to re-add HD Extras following prior Strato V Compatibility update:
It’s great to see that we’ve entered the phase of returning HD Extras.

EDIT/UPDATE: Downloading HD still triggers two downloads, but they're different now:
Previous: Theatrical Cut, Extended Cut with Extras
New: Features (Both Cuts), Extras

So, while it's now easier to add HD Extras to the 4K Theatrical Cut, getting the Extended Cut now means downloading both cuts in HD. I created a separate post to provide feedback to K.

Looks like the 4K HDR10 download has both a 2:02 and 2:10 version as well as a half dozen HD extras.
The only download for me was the extras.

Fun flick. The "New Unrated Cut" has only ever been available in HD. This includes other digital stores as well as disc where the 4K UHD Blu-ray has this cut on the included 1080p HD Blu-ray. This holds true to K also.

If you download the HD version of this title, you'll get the unrated cut. If you download the 4K HDR version, you'll get the theatrical cut.

The store listing should really note this with a pop-up "Features" link. @MikeKobb ?
Hmm. We shouldn't be showing the 'New Unrated Cut' cover if that's not what's actually on the 4K version. Will investigate.

There appears to be something funky happening in upgrade town. I had 12 owned and 29 downloaded that were incompatible which earlier today changed to 10 and 29 but no updates were available. Upon checking the 10 only 8 were the same as some of the 12 with The Untouchables and Goodfellas (If I remember correctly) as the extra 2. Both of which have only ever been owned and downloaded in 4k.

Now I am back to 12 owned incompatible movies but only 10 match the original 12 and with Gremlins and IT Chapter 2 as the extra 2. Again neither of which have been owned or downloaded in anything but 4k. The Untouchables and Goodfellas are now absent from the 12 as they originally were.

I assume that no 4k titles are incompatible with the V which leaves 4 movies AWOL without any updates available and 2 movies that probably shouldn't be in the list at all.

Do you, by chance, have the HD versions of any of those 4K movies downloaded in order to have special features on the system? I noticed something yesterday that led me to believe that we might be showing movies in that list even if you had the 4K version already downloaded. That would be a bug if so.

Oh, and yes, you're absolutely right about 4K compatibility. All 4K titles are compatible with Strato V.

No HD versions were ever downloaded at all including extras or special features. Neither of the 4k movies were on the incompatible list before yesterday and given that there are still 2 of them and the numbers are now the same that must mean there are 2 movies missing that used to be there which can't be explained due to being updated.

Having just checked neither Gremlins nor IT Chapter 2 are actually available for me to download in anything but 4k although there is an option for me to pay for an 'upgrade' to HD. As an aside I appreciate the option to' upgrade' is probably due to special features but it would be nice to be able to exclude them from the store. Similarly for the ability to purchase the exact same versions of movies I already have purchased.

That is quite strange. Does it actually present that option to buy the HD as an "upgrade"? Would you mind snapping a screenshot? It definitely sounds like something is not right. It may be that there's some kind of misconfiguration in the guide data that's causing what you're seeing.

Ah, will pass that on, thanks.
This is actually a bit of a weird one, as it's the artwork, length, AND rating that are amiss on Hansel & Gretel. There is a single HD cut and a single 4K cut and they're different. Normally when this is the case, there are two separate listings in the K Store separated by "Other Edition".

(For what it's worth, this combo of 4K Theatrical + HD Unrated is the perfect mix for this movie, no need for an HD Theatrical to waste space.)

Sure, I have attached them here. To be honest I am not sure how big a problem it is as it has always been like it so I have just put it down to quirks of the store.

Similarly for things like the Lethal Weapon Content Set when I get the chance to complete the set for the combined price of the individual D2D costs despite already having purchased them through D2D and owning all 4 movies in the collection. Not quite sure what I get extra that I don't have now for buying them a second time other than a completed set badge and a warm fuzzy feeling!

Same thing with movies like LOTR and Mad Max that keep getting offered to me as digital offers despite already owning them. I suspect that is something to do with purchases from different stores though in much the same way as already purchased movies being on my wishlist and unable to be removed.Incompatible Movies.jpgGremlins Highlighted.jpgOther Editions.jpg

All accepted as quirks so not really worth derailing this thread over.

The Incredibles

Changes in this update:
  • Audio and video improvements (4K HDR)

Avengers: Endgame

Changes in this update:
  • Audio and video improvements (4K HDR)

Joker

Changes in this update:
  • Added audio track: English (PCM Stereo) (4K HDR)
  • Added extras (as separate download in HD and/or SD)

I got all these updates. How do I know what really got updated for each so that I can decide to revisit the movie. Also, I am assuming that supplements are not downloading entire move in HD and SD. It used to be complete in HD/SD and I guess new direction is only supplements. Thanks.

Before you update, there is a little cloud update icon when you click on the movie. When you click on that icon, it will tell you the updates.

I see no update information/ notifications. I have both the endgame and joker. However they are currently not on the hard drive of my V (standalone). Shouldn’t I be receiving some update notifications anyways?

I believe you only get updates for movies that are downloaded to your system.

I imagine the logic behind that is that if a title is not downloaded, then it is not an update to what is on your system. The next time you download it, you will receive the highest quality in the format that was updated. I can understand and agree that it is not ideal. That impacts all of the
Strato V Compatibility updates as well. I have now redownloaded all incompatible titles in HD, just so I can get the update notification.

Also, for Joker, I believe the main update was PCM 2 channel, probably nothing of significance to most users.
