Great film. Feel like they don’t make these types of noir films anymore. Transfer looks great. I wonder if this is the same transfer as the recent vinegarsyndrome release.
This was a great film. I need to revisit. I remember renting it on LaserDisc when it came out.

Sometimes, Samarai is the way to go. Jet Li does not disappoint. I didn't have the laser disc, but wow!

This one got the Harvey Scissorhands treatment and the original Director’s Cut hasn’t received proper release in the US physically or digitally. Imprint Films (AU Boutique) had a nice release last year with both cuts (long sold out):

Just a perfect film. Deserving of its Best Picture award. The 4K b/w transfer looks great on K.

Shane - movie was fine. I didn't count but trivia says the name Shane is said approximately 90 times. I'm going to guess that whoever originally said this simply stopped counting about halfway through the movie and settled on 90!

Eddington…started off a little slow then…bam. There was one scene that shook the house suddenly. Scared the hell out of the room!

Liked Ghost in the Shell a lot.

Blade Runner 2049 is an all-time favorite...great in all ways: story, sequel, acting, special effects, sound engineering, directing, score, all of it is world class and just amazing! And, some of the best home theater surround demo scenes. Great fun!

Fun to see these back to back.

Exceptional “body horror” retelling of Cinderella. Norwegian with subtitles and two somewhat graphic sex scenes, so maybe not for everyone. One of this years biggest surprises.

Hated Barbarian. Really enjoyed this one. Solid movie that fits the season.

I thought it might be fun if we had an ongoing thread where we could all share the last movie we watched. I know I’d enjoy hearing from others about what was the centerpiece of your last movie night.

Tonight, my husband somewhat randomly had the urge to rewatch Tron: Legacy. I saw it twice back when it was new, but Letterboxd tells me I hadn’t seen it since then — more than 10 years now. K to the rescue! It’s absolutely the best thing to me about K that we can so often think of a movie and be watching it just a short time later in the best available quality.

Tron: Legacy was a variable aspect ratio release on Blu-ray, so the fact that K has the ‘Scope version was icing on the cake: The movie was a blast to watch on our ‘Scope screen. But the real stunner was the lossless soundtrack. It’s an incredible 7.1 mix, and hearing Daft Punk’s score again was a real treat.

What was the last movie you watched?
Tonight I watched The Revenant. I had previously seen the film on an AppleTV download. I can only say that the version I watched tonight on K totally engrossed me, both visually and audibly. I had never noticed the tremendous role that sound plays in the film. Hypnotic. The landscapes are amazing. Between the sound and the visuals, you actually feel cold watching it. Add in tremendous performances (especially by Leonardo and Tom Hardy) and it was really a top-notch experience. But beware … it’s totally a “guy” movie.

Still one of the best horror films. It will never have the same impact on me it had when seeing it for the first time in the theater in 1978, but just great style, music, and performance by Jamie Lee Curtis.

28 Years Later if you like horror movies. Great audio and I can’t believe they shot that movie on IPhone 15 Pros.

Batman (1989) last night. Looked exceptional on K.

The Long Walk - I have not read the book so not influenced by that. I enjoyed it. Not sure if the ending was the strongest but it was good.

I hadn't heard about that. I hope the video quality stands up to the test of time better than the original movie, which looks like garbage aside from the scene at the end that was shot on film.

Red Rock West. HD only, no special effects or amazing soundtrack. Just great writing and performances by Nicholas Cage, Dennis Hopper, Lara Flynn Boyle and JT Walsh.

Just watched Longlegs. Went in knowing nothing about the plot/film. Overall a good film and definitely worth a rewatch on my end. Picked it up when the price dropped last week.

Drop - interesting, worth a watch at least once. Glad the price dropped.
