I am very new to Kaleidescape so pardon my ignorance but what kind of equipment is needed or what kind of DVD rom drive due I need to import my existing 4K ultra discs into my Kaleidescape E? Is it even possible to import these existing 4K discs to Kaleidescape? Thanks to anyone who can advise me on this issue.

I used the Pioneer BDR-S13U and it worked great.
So I was reading the article above your reply and it advised to just use the regular blue ray version of the disc and upgrade to 4K in the Kaleidescape disc to digital program. Do you agree with advice? The Pioneer BDR-S13U you recommend highly?

Based on your use of "import" in your question, I want to be sure you understand that you CANNOT "import" content from a disc to any Strato with storage, nor any Terra Server. Importing from a disc into a Kaleidescape server can only be done in the Premiere line (older but still available components), and you CANNOT "import" disc based 4K UHD content to either line (Premiere or Terra-Strato line).

If you are only referring to the identifying process used to "Catalog" a disc in order to receive a lower price in the Store if a digital offer exists for that content, then ignore my comment. That process does not import content, it only identifies the disc.

I had the drive already, so I didn’t seek it out. I did know already that it handled 4K discs, which is what I used, not the Blu-ray’s.

If your collection is a lot of Disney owned studios, it’s honestly not worth it. They are like $3 off and you can do better in sales. With WB, I converted stuff I never planned to it’s so cheap.

I don’t think there’s a best. It either works or it doesn’t.

I can’t seem to find that model Pioneer BDR-S13U anywhere. Any other recommendations.

I'll check on this end, the numers may be incorrect, not sure, but there is a model with similar numbers. (We have one here somewhere.)

The Pioneer BDR-XS07UHD has worked perfectly for me, including a lot of 4K blu-rays. Unfortunately, it looks like it is no longer available. However, I would think any of the current Pioneer models would work the same.

Ok great be sure to let me know
That is a correct model, except that Pioneer has an "X" on the end.

BDR-S13U-X

by96 also noted a workable drive above.

I also had a client using a Pioneer BDR-XD08UMB-S

Did you ever check to see if you have a drive for cataloging discs? Please let me know.

Sorry, no, I expected to fly up to my Indiana house on Sunday evening, but had to delay. I hope to get there this weekend.
