HD content conversion updates

I dug through some of the latest updates and remain confused. There are definitely titles that have had their Extras restored at the original resolution and are now "complete." However, there's quite a few that are re-appearing at the top of the list as if they've been updated, but their Extras are not fully restored.

One easy example is Troy. This "special edition" title has always had a ton of Extras all in HD. During the Strato HD effort all of these were converted to SD. Well, Troy is showing as updated again but all Extras are still in SD. So, I don't know what has happened to cause it to be high on the list again. I certainly hope it's not K's intent to leave these Extras in SD. (Other similarly "update but not updated" titles include The Fugitive, Happy Feet, and Interview with the Vampire.)

I purchased my Strato V on July 19, 2024, so almost 18 months now. Only 3 remaining to be converted for me:
Adele Live at the Royal Albert Hall concert
John Mayer live in Los Angeles concert
The X Files - Fight the future

I couldn’t find John Mayer’s concert on the store and was sad. Hopefully that means it’s just on hiatus as the update is pending?

It looks like that title is now under different ownership. John left his record label after Sob Rock and may have retained ownership of this title. The studio has been removed from the details in Kaleidescape (for those of us who already owned it). Looking at iTunes the studio has changed to Three on the Tree Productions, which is the production company formed by Danny Clinch specifically for this project, so perhaps they were able to retain ownership and Kaleidescape could relicense with the new ownership.

Many thanks. Bummed out about this as it was one of my go-to's on my list of purchases I wanted to make when my Strato E arrived yesterday. Hopeful that it makes a swift return, and that Kaleidescape are able to expand their offerings and work out more deals with the likes of MUBI etc.

Email movies@kaleidescape.com to request inclusion of studios and titles you'd like to see included in the store. If iTunes is including the John Mayer title, it's not like it's a disc-only title, and Kaleidescape may be able to work out a quick deal.

Many thanks. Pretty instantaneous reply. Hopefully they can also get MUBI onboard, and catch up on NEON titles.
 
I cracked and went to D2D the 3 Ip Man movies but it flagged up one isn’t compatible, the 3rd film hasn’t been converted yet so looks like I will be waiting on my request for Ip Man 1-4 to be added in 4K and Master Z Legacy in HD, perfect time to update the assets and get the full 4K set that’s out of print on disc ;) ;) ;).

Knowing this title had previously been updated early in the HD Compatibility process, I checked it out to see if the previously removed HD Extras had been returned. Unfortunately, not yet.

My next test was to try to download it, as the prior compatibility update had merged both Theatrical & Director's Cuts into a single download, forcing you to use additional storage even if you wanted only one. I actually called this out to @MikeKobb in the post linked below. Well, although we're still missing the Extras, I'm happy to report that the two cuts of this film are now available as separate downloads!!! Thanks to K and crew for making this happen. Hopefully we'll see a similar effort on Suicide Squad (the only other title I personally saw impacted by this).

Hopefully this feedback will be read by K staff like @MikeKobb and passed to the Kaleidescape Content Team.

There has been a long-running request to see Extras split off into separate downloads wherever possible. This is much more common on recent releases where HD Extras might accompany a 4K feature (like Marvel). However, there have been a lot of prior releases where you had to download the full HD version in order to add the HD Extras to your 4K movie.

The impact of the Strato V HD Compatibility issue has actually provided an opportunity for K to revisit this, and the...

Sorry to revive a relatively old thread, but has the lip sync issue been resolved for this particular title? I was holding off, because I read there was a distinct lip sync issue, which was also confirmed by @MikeKobb

Thread 'The Island (Michael Bay, Ewan and ScaJo)'

I searched this forum and could not find anyone discussing a possible issue. This is the ONLY movie in my K library that has a severe lip sync issue. It is off by like a full 1.5 seconds. Trinnov has a delay feature to counteract this but wanted to see if anyone else has watched this movie on K.

We are seeing lipsync issue on three separate players and systems. The 11 minute mark is easy to see/hear it on our systems.

The Full Monty and Conquest of the Planet of the Apes are still not HD compatible. Those two are currently on sale. I bought them expecting compatibility eventually.

We watched this a couple weeks ago and didn’t notice any issues.

I requested the Full Monty be converted last year. Still waiting...
 
The only titles I'm still waiting on are Conquest of the Planet of the Apes and Star Trek: The Next Generation (Season 6). I also bought them both while on sale, expecting compatibility eventually.

Pretty sure The Full Monty has been converted, it’s let me download it and didn’t give me any warnings.

EDIT: Checked the website and it’s showing as not compatible, I only bought it a couple of weeks ago and pretty sure I didn’t get a warning plus it’s let me queue the download when I only have a Strato V, hmmm.

I watched this last night and usually pretty sensitive to lip sync issues and didn't notice any...good movie too, first time watch

I didn't realize it's something K could do on request! I'd love it if they separated the Color and Chrome versions of the new Mad Max movies. (Fury Road and Furiosa.) @MikeKobb ?
