What type of 4K Kaleidescape content seems to be affected by chroma banding and block artifacts? Also, are all, most, or some titles affected? Is it just HDR content? Excuse my ignorance if I’m having trouble following all of this. Is this in part due to the limitations of/poor implementation of HDR which is a problem with many 4K UHD titles?
I am/was extremely happy with my Strato E when I first purchased it due to the significant jump in sound quality compared to streaming. Since many big box stores no longer carry physical media and due to the long lag before titles become available in online retailers, Kaleidescape has been my go-to for watching movies.
Unfortunately, I’ve hesitated in purchasing and renting movies lately due to comments on this forum and due to issues I’ve experienced with less than perfect movie quality or playback. The last firmware upgrade seemed to fix random dropouts in movie playback, though. I’ve also vacillated on whether to purchase a Terra prime server due to my current feeling that I’m not getting the quality that I thought I was paying for. Maybe this is all just the nature of AV technology. Maybe I’m losing interest in Kaleidescape.
