[Buyer’s Guide] Kaleidescape Quality Compared to Blu-ray & other Digital Sources

Oh wow, I wasn’t even thinking about piracy, not sure how you got there!

What else could you be implying then? There’s only one reason I’m doing all of this, and it’s exactly what I said: to get the best possible version of movies.

you’d actually get more recognition and respect if you weren’t like that

Why would I want recognition or respect from people here, most of whom aren’t tech-savvy? I already get plenty of that from the tools I develop and share with thousands of users who share my interest in video processing, not from people here who constantly downplay what I report. Add to that the fact that I’m constantly reporting bad news about quality, so of course, I come across as salty.

them take you less seriously which is why it’s mostly only people with the same mindset engaging.
Well, if someone thinks I’m not serious about my reports just because I’m direct(maybe even harsh)then I don’t want that person commenting here. If you don’t have a legitimate question or something meaningful to add to this thread, I don’t see the point in commenting here. There’s another thread for casually discussing movie quality.

Honestly it’s not important but that never crossed my mind.

It’s just the principles of human psychology, people are much more receptive to ideas when someone isn’t attacking them. If you are open then people are more open with you and vice versa and I think you’d be surprised about what people do or don’t know. Nobody is here to attack you or pretend there isn’t an issue and there can be a discussion about how big an issue it is without it being a problem.

Also to clarify when I say take you seriously I don’t mean they think you aren’t serious about it, I meant it more as in they would want to engage with you about the issues and discuss it on the forums to understand it better. Maybe you don’t have any interest in that but lashing out prevents that level of engagement.

Some people have asked questions and you’ve not been particularly receptive because you felt they were defending K so it’s just something to be aware of and I can say I’ve personally not asked about some questions because of how things have been in here.

Believe it or not when I first said about how you were talking not being the best approach however long ago it was now, I was actually trying to be helpful. And hopefully what I’ve said hasn’t come across as patronising because that isn’t my intention.

Here's a question maybe someone knows the answer to, unlikely as that may be.

For the older movies in the store with perceived problematic encodings. Does K even have the source files to re-encode them? I mean, they don't get to keep a copy of the mezzanine files (that's what they're called?) forever do they?

They were very quick to fix the latest titles I reported, so I assume they either have the source file on hand or can access it remotely whenever needed.

I’m fully aware that most people reading this thread probably can’t stand me, and yeah, I’m deliberately unfriendly. That’s intentional. It makes people think twice before jumping in with nonsense

Honestly, if it were up to me, the thread would be locked and limited strictly to my objective, lossless comparisons.
Wow...

What do you guys think….
1: Can the player be fixed?
2: When will it be fixed? 2026 ? Maybe 2027 lol
3: how much longer should one wait before contacting the BBB and pursue legal action?

You can't post in a public forum and not expect others to comment. The reason this thread has become so heated between members is simple, the OP and a couple of others in the echo chamber are not willing to allow comments that disagree with them, or minimize what they consider to be a serious problem. Instead of just ignoring the posts, or giving a thumbs down, they go after the person posting, and that causes the back and forth arguments.

If someone posts that they don't see the issues being reported by the OP, that's not actually saying they don't exist, it's only a statement that they don't see the issues. That might be because the issues are minor to them, it might be because they focus on the movie's content not on the encoding, it might be because they don't know what to look for, but whatever the reason, they have a right to comment without being attacked.

This thread remains open to every member.

Perhaps it’s because what I’m demonstrating here can’t be disputed. How hard is that to understand? I think you’ve posted the same pointless thing a million times… SMH. We get it, those issues aren’t important to you. Anyone with a basic understanding of video encoding knows the problems reported here are major. It might be time to put you on my ignore list, seriously.

Mike promised an early spring update, so it should happen any day now, and I’ve already had them correct the poor encoding on dozens of movies.

The studios should sue them for damaging their mezzanine files the way KS does.

Re-read my post, I said "that's not actually saying they don't exist..." You just can't accept anyone pushing back, so your thread will continue to have these argumentative spaces that detract from your content.

maybe you should re-read your own post because you said:

''are not willing to allow comments that disagree with them''

Yes, I find it ridiculous and pointless that some people disagree with facts (lossless comparisons)

Ok, I’m done dealing with you, Cinelife.
SMH, I don’t see any way to add a user to my ignore list…

By the way, dinom, I thought you were leaving this thread, LMAO. Yet here you are with your childish emoji reactions…

I guess it´s just Jim (and I guess Josh) - admin privilege ;)
Perhaps it would be a good idea to reach out to him one more time and have him put the whole user list on ignore for you. I guess that comes closest to what you asked for a few posts above. :)

Nah, only Cinelife has reached this level of annoyance, but I’d say you’re also very close to achieving it.

By coincidence, you are both users who profit from KS.

I thank you for that "honor!" 😂

Seriously, I suggest you just get back to posting you findings.

Jim

you can ignore any user's post. Click on their profile name next to any post, then on that screen that comes up there's an "ignore" button.
