US BR & 4K Releases for January & February 2026

I really don't trust those reviews lately because I think they should be much lower in a lot of cases than what they give. For instance, the Minority Report 4K version didn't look all that great to me but it got 4.8 out of 5 for video. I'm referring to the bluray.com ratings.
I guess it depends how you want to rate though because there are some people who think anything with film grain looks bad. Pretty sure they rate based on how faithful it is to the source not whether the source looks good.

Look at the 28 days later Blu-ray review video score. Other than the last minute which is actually in HD, compared to any other Blu-ray it wouldn’t get any higher than 0.5/5 and that’s being generous because it’s literally just an SD movie. No fault of the disc and everything to do with the source being limited to that but rewatching because of the sequels I forgot just how bad SD is!

They are reviewing the disc rather than the outright visual quality.

Here's a couple reviews. Wow, what passes as a review these days is wild.

Happy movie viewing!
@thrillcat , that second review accords more with my experience of the film. That first one seems to go out of its way to pick nits.

I ended up watching it last weekend even though I have a temporary AVP in place and only 1 of 4 subs connected. It's not a perfect film but I loved it and can't wait to watch again when the system is back at full capability.

You’ve convinced me, I’m adding it to my queue!

I always take reviews on blu-ray with a huge grain of salt. Often they review things based on what they remember the movie looked like in theaters 25 years ago and I call bullcrap on that. (The most glaring example for me was their reviews for Criterion's "Three Colors" trilogy. They were legit saying a movie they saw in the early 1990s was different, even though the cinematographers oversaw the remaster/color grades. Give me a break.)

Hey I just PO'd The Whole Bloody Affair on my laptop. A Kscape upgrade notification quickly popped up but I wasn't able to read it.

Does this mean that if you already own Kill Bill 1 and 2 on the store that we won't have to pay full price for the The Whole Bloody Affair? If so, then this will be MARVELOUS!!! 🤩

(I mean I was going to buy it anyway.)

I've seen Kill Bill 1 & 2, but never the Whole Bloody Affair. I have a few questions if anyone knows the answers.

1. Does anyone know if the 4k Source is upgraded from the 2 previous movies?

2. It appears the length is longer than the previous 2 movies combined by about 27 minutes. Does anyone know what the additional footage consists of?

3. Are the black and white scenes now in color?

Thanks in advance.

Key Differences in The Whole Bloody Affair:
  • Colorized Fight Scene: The House of Blue Leaves fight is entirely in color, whereas the theatrical Vol. 1 switched to black-and-white to avoid an NC-17 rating for excessive blood.
  • Extended Anime Sequence: The flashback anime segment detailing O-Ren Ishii's backstory is longer, featuring more graphic violence.
  • Structural Changes: The film flows as one, removing the "To be continued" cliffhanger from Vol. 1 and the "previously on" recap from Vol. 2.
  • Added/Restored Footage: Includes extended scenes and more gore throughout. Specifically, Sofie Fatale losing her other arm is shown.
  • Narrative Flow: The film begins with the "Two Pines Wedding Massacre" and flows directly from the Bride's revenge in Vol. 1 to her confrontation with Bill in Vol. 2.

La Femme Nikita in 4K SDR.HDR/Dolby Vision with DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 added by Sony:

Well, hello there long-overdue 4K catalog upgrade from Sony… bringing any friends with you?
