Last movie watched

Patriot's Day. Intense film. Great, effective use of HDR and wide colour gamut to enhance storytelling (viewed on a calibrated Sony FWD-77A95L).

Rewatched in prep for Final Reckoning. Great fun!

Ford v Ferrari. Looked and sounded amazing and what a terrific film. Enjoyed it even more the second time :)
This has some great atmos demos. The scene where Shelby flies the plane over the heads of the crowd is a really good overhead scene. I have that saved as one I demo with.

Abigail. Enjoyable for what it is. Could have been a streaming release but if you’re not expecting cinematic greatness you’ll have fun watching.

characters are stylized, as you might expect, but it's based on a true story and enjoyable.

The Killer's Game, viewed last night as a K' rental
3.2 * rating
I liked the first 30 min, act 1 setup. After that it was hit and miss with pacing issues, some good villains and some not so good and some that started out interesting but petered out, so some inconsistency. $8 rental, UHD BD quality with a $11 buy option, sale price minus 1/2 rental cost. Worth watching once so no purchase for me.

I was really excited to catch this on sale. If you like the vampire genre, I think this is a great one. It’s such a level up to see on Kscape as it really benefits the very dark scenes throughout this film.

Great film. Feel like they don’t make these types of noir films anymore. Transfer looks great. I wonder if this is the same transfer as the recent vinegarsyndrome release.

…and some of the best “below deck” ATMOS since Master & Commander.

Ballerina was recently updated; and the grenade scene shook my neighbors house!
Definitely a demo scene if you're like me and run hot subs!!

Watched this one last night. Was pleasantly surprised by how much my wife and I enjoyed it.

Darren Aronofsky is one of my favorite directors and I've really been enjoying Austin Butler onscreen, so this was a slam dunk viewing for me.

Having said that, and avoiding any spoilers, this is the least Aronofsky of any Aronofsky film I've ever seen. My wife didn't know anything about the movie going in, with commentary like "Is this Guy Ritchie?" and "Is someone trying to be Tarantino?" When the movie was over and "Directed by Darren Aronofsky" came up she burst out: "WHAT???"

None of that is to speak to the quality of the film itself. I'm glad I saw the film and don't think it's bad by any stretch; my mind is just wrestling with the pedigree. Good for Aronofsky for stretching out, and I'd imagine this was a more "fun" shoot for him. Go in open-minded and I think you'll have a good time.

Relay - an hour and 30 minutes of a great original plot with suspense followed by 20 minutes of the same movie you've watched a thousand times.

Still interesting but the ending "twist" just fell flat for me.
