Strato V black screen and audio cutout issues

So the KSV sends 8 bit RGB DV, the Denon takes in and reports it as 8 bit RGB, the display shows and renders proper 8 bit RGB DV and reports it as such, but the issue is with the KSV???

Isn’t the issue the DENON NOT displaying a DV logo when it should, even though it receives and sends it out properly???

Please explain how this isn’t the Denon’s fault for improperly reporting the signal it’s receiving because apparently the signal is fine, as demonstrated by the TV showing and reporting it completely and correctly?
Wonder if there is another issue people are having, something like the thread title perhaps that people have never had outside the V? And connecting that to the odd missing DV flag that also hasn’t been seen outside the V?

Re: audio dropout issues on certain DV/Atmos titles mentioned in above post: I purposely watched Pacific Rim (one of the titles mentioned) to see I would experience any such problems. And, it turns out that I did not encounter a single issue with the audio or video. The sound was very immersive without flaws.

I am using Strato V standalone with Sony X95L 85" TV and Sony STR-AZ7000ES receiver. I thought this might help in diagnosing problems that others might be having.

P.S. I think Guillermo del Toro has done far better movies--a far cry from Pan's Labyrinth. In fact, it seemed like a cross between Robocop and Godzilla.

Same experience in both of my Strato-V setups here.

1: Strato-V > RadPro 5348 > Video direct to Sony GTZ380 > Audio to Trinnov Altitude > ProAudio Tech Amps

2: Strato-V > Sony Bravia 9 (85") > Theater 9 Soundbar

So far, no problems with any DV title, although as I previously mentioned, a couple of titles had scenes where the Blacks appeared to be clipped (crushed), and one audio pop sound in a particular title (but the audio didn't drop out.

Admittedly, I haven't had time to test many titles, but the few I did watch didn't have any problems. In no way am I dismissing what some other owners are experiencing.

I wonder if it's a Strato V + Terra Prime issue. I may test taking my Terra Prime off and playing movies direct off the Strato V. It looks like both gadgetman and cinelife, you are using Strato V alone, is that correct? You do not have a Terra Prime server for your Kscape system?

I don't have the black screen issue and I'm using the Strato V as a standalone unit (no Terra server). I do get the occasional short audio dropouts from time to time. I don't see any common thing that might be causing it on those affected titles.

I don't think so. I have a Strato V grouped along with a Terra and Strato S and have experienced none of the issues reported on this thread. Other kit - Trinnov Alt16 and JVC NZ8.

My V's are "grouped," they are not standalone. I'm actually pulling one out to use as standalone, I'm leaving in the morning for my house at Notre Dame. Time for some football!

I'm now using Strato V in standalone mode. But, I am using a simple hook up to a 2023 Sony TV and receiver (e.g. both Sony products and both new models). It seems that many of the members with problems are using more sophisticated equipment or equipment in the chain made by different manufacturers.

So, I'm not inclined to think that I will have a problem when I combine it with the Terra servers. But, that's speculation until I combine the systems.

I havent had any issues since the FW update with my V connected directly to my Samsung S95C. Prior, I got the black screen. I disconnected my V and reconnected and my S95C recognized it as a 4K UHD player, when prior it never could automatically recognize it. I have my V connected to a 12 TB Compact Terra.

I’ve had to reboot the V a few times now using the power button. Gets hung with the ‘loading data’ message.
I’ve also experienced an occasional black screen drop out, no audio issues.
Terra prime server.

I have a Denon 3700H and can confirm that I see the funky psychedelic colors in my OSD with the default settings (Dolby Vision Standard). My AVR also does not correctly display that it's receiving a Dolby Vision signal, but confusingly my TV does. This behavior persists no matter what HDMI input port I use on the AVR and all HDMI inputs are set to HDCP 2.3. I've never seen this behavior before and have connected many peripherals capable of playing DV content to this AVR without issue. There is definitely something going on with the Strato V here.

Candidly, from an image quality perspective I'm disappointed with the DV performance and have opted to stick with HDR10 titles for now until this all gets resolved. Seems like the KDS team is well aware of these issues so all we can do is wait for the magic firmware update to arrive.

I'm having same exact issue. In interim, while we wait for firmware update, you manually fix this issue. Play a DV movie on K, change the denon input to another device, go to settings, change hdcp setting (auto to 2.3 or vice versa), go back to K input on denon. This will reestablish the connection between K and Denon and above issue will be fixed. You will see secure connection restored message on K screen. This has been working for me consistently.

Can you pause the video currently playing when doing this? I just don't want to miss any of the content when making these changes on the Denon. I can also just rewind the movie, but the K is not exactly the best when fast forwarding or rewinding.

Yes. I usually pause the movie.

Oh my that's a lot of steps haha. I'm probably just gonna stick with HDR10 titles only until this gets fixed via firmware. Still looks great to my eyes.

Works like a charm and only takes about 30 seconds.

I finally had it happen to me full audio drop. 1hr:36 minutes into The Parenthood. This is an SD format movie.

Strato V connected directly to LG G3. Had to rewind and play again. Couldn't replicate and never occurred again once during the movie.

Here is my experience as a Newb. My new Strato V connects to a Lumagen with picture to a projector and sound to an Anthem AVM60. So far I have watched 2 films. True Lies HDR played perfectly. Gran Turismo DV had an audio dropout lasting around 10 seconds about 30 minutes into the film.
